Head Table Size

Monana, on June 6, 2014 at 10:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

So for my reception I am seating all the guests at round tables, and doing a rectangle for the head table. The rectangle tables that my venue supplies are 6 feet long.

Is that too small for 4 of us? I plan to have us, and our maid of honor and bestman at the head table.

If it would be too small, which I think it may be, would two of them be way too long? I am also big on being symmetrical but thought if it was way too long I could kind of section off one end and have the cake there. I don't know, any ideas?

4 at a 6ft table does sound small. I think 3 would fit but not 4.

My head table is 3, 8ft tables pushed together. It will seat all 10 of us.

Ya, I was thinking about 2 feet per person would be the minimum. Especially with the poofness of my dress, which isn't super poofy but still almost needs its own seat. But 12 feet seems way too long. I dunno!

6' table is meant for three people on each side, and 8' meant for four on each side. You will need two 6' tables.

You can sit on both sides of the table, two people on each side so you are across from each other. Much better for conversation.

@Emily, that doesn't really sound like normal seating for a headtable. Do people do that?

If I had 12 feet for 4 people, how do I make it not look too empty? I don't want to go too crazy with decor.

6' will be too tight for 4 of you, we are getting a 6' for the two of us (as per direction from our wedding decorator). Especially if your dress takes up a decent amount of space.

Yes people do that - it's called a King's Table and it can be set up vertically down the center of the room. It allows for way better conversation than the old style head table where people sit side by side. There are lots of styles of head tables now, think outside the box. Many people aren't doing those long tables anymore.

Yes there tons of ways of seeing up a head table. I just decided to sit my fh, myself, both sets of parents, his grandparents and a free siblings at one table. (Not a huge wedding but every one of the wedding party has a family so we decided they all get to sit with their family and not have a traditional head table)

    Example of a King's Table...

(Although yours would be on a smaller scale of course).
