Head table for bride and groom only

We are having a round table for just me and fh and our kids are going to be with the kids at the kids table except for our youngest who will be 2 months at the time

We had a rectangular table. I’ve never seen children seated at the sweetheart table.

This is entirely up to your personal preference and what works in your venue space. You can use round, oval or rectangle tables. They also have tables that are half rounds (The front is round and the back is straight) that don’t take up as much room as a full round.
As far as children go, that is also up to your preference. Most couples I’ve seen do not have their children sit with them. They use that time to be alone together and share a meal, just the two of them. However, if you would prefer to have your children sit at the table with you, that is totally OK too!

All the sweetheart tables I’ve seen (and that’s all I’ve seen as head tables aren’t really a thing here) have been either half rounds or small rectangles. No one but the couple sits at the table.

We had a small rectangular table. We did have an extra chair in case our daughter (she was 6 at the time) wanted to sit with us but she chose to sit with my parents instead.

This is where our reception is and the sweetheart table is a long rectangle table along with the buffet tables and the guest will be seated at circle tables. My 3 daughters who will be 7, almost 4 and almost 2 at the time we get married (September) will be seated at the kids table!
