Is anyone else keeping up with this lawsuit?! I'm completely invested at this point, and so upset for her!

As you probably know, Hayley Paige is a bridal designer! So, she resigned a couple of months ago from JLM, but got into a nasty lawsuit over her name, which has been the brand of the company. Basically, the company wants her to cut all ties with the name Hayley Paige, since that's their brand name, and ya know, her birth name! She came out today and told instagram that the company now is suing her husband for using the name. It all just blows me away -- this is her identity. I think it's so nasty.

Oh my gosh!!! Me too! I’m so upset that this is happening! How can it be that a company thinks they can own someone’s birth name and completely strip them of that! I am appalled!

It makes me heated! She made a statement yesterday about how they are now suing her husband for calling her by her name! It is ABSURD

Yes it’s saddening! I wore one of her gowns and hate that I can’t tag her design page because her name isn’t hers... we just keep tagging her other account on IG (all that glitters) and my heart just breaks for her and her fiancé.

Ah really?! I think they're beautiful! Definitely not the style for my wedding theme, but I think she designs a beautiful dress. Very princess-ey

This is about intellectual property. She signed the agreement with JLM granted the exclusive world-wide right and license to use her name. Even though it is her own name but she actually gave it away when she started this career with the company.

It is sad but intellectual property is very important when it comes to business and of course money $$$

I disagree. While they can use her name on the gowns she designed I think owning a persons own name and owning the use of a name is very different. And now trying to sue others for calling someone a name is absolutely absurd. That’s taking any humanness out of the situation and world. What kind of world is it that is the model we use?

You can look up about intellectual property. I'm just saying the reason why she doesn't have the right to use her name for any kind of business after she signed the agreement to grant JLM to have an exclusive rights to her name. She agreed to let the company trademark rights to Hayley Paige. The reason that she lost because the agreement that she signed. I know it is not right because that is her name but she was the one who approved it. Smiley cry

Do you know about Kate Spade? After she sold her company, she changed her name for the new business and also Bobbi Brown.

It is sad but this is the world we live. People have been losing lawsuits over intellectual property because it is a complicated topic.

**I'm not saying that it is the right thing to do but the company has the right to do. Smiley sad
