Hawaii Honeymoon??

It just depends on exactly what you want to do. We're staying in Honolulu. We want to do some touristy things, but also do some hiking and boating. We also might visit another island so that could be something you think about. Make a list of what things you want to do and then find the island that best suits your needs.

Kauai has been my favorite of three islands I have been to (oahu, maui &kauai). We got on an awesome condo on the beach. We had plenty of beach relaxing time but also were able to go on some awesome hikes and adventures.

So I've spent a lot of time in HI so this is gonna be long. To an extent, you can get those things on any Hawaiian island. But I'd suggest Kauai or Maui from what you said.

I'd lean more towards Kauai if you guys like hiking/adventure/waterfalls. It also has great beaches but they can be harder to swim in. It is just gorgeous. You totally get into that laid back mindset.

If you want a traditional HI experience, I'd lean towards Maui. It's my personal favorite. The beaches/waves are great and it still has really good hiking. It's a bit more expensive.

The big island has great hiking/nature but the beaches are bleh. Good prices here.

You can rule out lanai for being super expensive (though it's amaaazzing).

Oahu is overrated IMO, but the North Shore is nice. There's only one nice hotel up there though (Turtle Bay) and it's pricey. It's also cool if you want to see the city or cultural exhibits.

Molakai is cool for culture, but you can probably cross it off your list. I did a day trip there once but that's all.

To add on to what lyla said....Maui is a wonderful option to get everything you want. It was my personal favorite for the overall "Hawaii" experience.

I have to agree that much of Oahu is overrated. However, when I visited there we spent much of our time in like the back country. Can't for the life of me remember what the area was called. But it was BEAUTIFUL. The mountains were incredible and the area was very secluded and private. The beaches were very rocky but when you essentially have an entire beach to yourself, you don't complain. (Side note: when I say back country, I mean like chickens wandering in and out of the restaurant you are eating at....). If you do happen to visit Waikiki, find a Puka Dog.

We are going to Oahu, but not staying in Waikiki - We are staying at the Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club - which is about a 30 min drive to Waikiki. We chose this because we were OK with renting a car and staying in a resort area away from the craziness of Waikiki.

We plan on starting our trip with a sunrise circle the island photography tour. Then over the next couple days exploring the North Shore and visiting Pearl Harbor. FH has to take the Magnum PI helicopter tour too!

There are lots of amenities in the Ko Olina resort area as well. We are hoping that it will be a good mix and suits our preferences well.

Lilbit ko olina is great just beware it is really 45 mins away and that's without traffic (it's really bad here!) There are lots of things to do at the resort and excursions to go on.

Carmen if u want nightlife go to Oahu but otherwise Kauai is amazing with hiking, so I would suggest there. Maui is laid back as well if your looking for the best beaches imo. Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice everyone! Im definitely going to look into all these places We want to have a good mix of everything (hiking adventures, beaches and the "Hawaiian experience").

Kauai is my fave, sounds like that would suit you.

We spent a week on the Big Island and loved every minute! We found it the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. We plan to go back for an anniversary, and we'd love to include Oahu as part of our stay, but we'll definitely go back to the Big Island.
