Hawaii Honeymoon

Jmz, on July 20, 2020 at 11:55 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14
Hi all! I'm not sure I'll manage, but if we do choose to immediately leave on a honeymoon after the wedding, we've agreed on Hawaii. We are going for the relaxed island vibe with excursions offered straight from the hotel so there's no need for a car. Upon minimal research, Kauai and Lanai sounded our style. Anyone have any first-hand experience?
(Goes without saying this is assuming things are safe next year.)

Why don't you want to rent a car? I highly recommend getting one for Kauai. The island is small enough that you can drive around it (not completely around; there's one part not accessible to vehicles) in one day, which makes exploring the whole thing really fun. And there is plenty to do there for a week's vacation. If you limit yourselves to hotel-sponsored excursions, you will really miss out on most of what Hawaii has to offer.

I haven't been to Lanai, so I can't offer advice about that.

I have some friends that go to Kauai and say it’s the best relaxed area to be in. I personally have not been there.

Because we've been city people since teenagers and I don't even have a license 😂 he was going to finish his up this summer but now due to corona virus he can't get back to his own country to finish the tests up. 🤦‍♀️ So yeah, no cars.

I suggest strongly to rent a car. There are many places that is worth the trip! We spent a week in Kauai and we went out hiking everyday. The rain come and goes, but avoid the raining season anyway. We are supposed to be in Hawaii today for our wedding this Thursday, but we postponed due to covid. Until today we haven’t book a new date because we have no idea how long covid sticks around. It’s not only fear to get infected, but many Hawaiian are angry that the governor keep allowing tourists to come. I don’t want that vibe. Check the governor’s Instagram posts, the comments from Hawaii residents are very negative towards tourist, which I totally understand. So, I am waiting at least a couple months to see what happens 🤷🏻‍♀️ Good luck 🥂

Yes. I think Maui and Kauai are best for honeymoon. Can’t go wrong with either one.

Oh yes I wouldn't want to go now while people are trying to get their own country/state safe. I'm sorry you had to postpone!! A wedding in Hawaii would be dreamy. I'm sure it'll be worth it.
I guess I should've clarified, we don't have licenses so we are incapable of renting. 😂

I am sure there will be a way to go around. I never see über but maybe the hotel can give you guys some advice. There are one hidden beach I love in Kauai where you can have privacy with hubby 😜

Oh, ok. No, I wouldn't really recommend Kauai without a car. Public transit and Lyft/Uber/Taxis would be a pretty insufficient way to get around the island. Without a car, Oahu would be your best bet since the bus system there is decent.

I went to Kauai and I have to say that it is definitely laid-back but I also have to say that things close really early there in general because it’s more of a retirement island so there’s not really much to do past 7 PM

We did Oahu and loved it. Super popular, but so much history and if you rent a car you can just enjoy the entire island...
