Having trouble finding an officiant..

We’re getting married in May next year. We aren’t religious so that makes it even harder. I’ve checked on thumbtack, i’ve checked on the vendor page here, nothing is showing up around our area it’s all 2+ hours away. We considered having a family member get officiated and marry us but there’s really nobody who we want to do that or who would want to. I also want our ceremony to run smoothly so I’d rather have someone with experience. How do I find one?!

Google search and also check fbook. Not all vendors are here on wedding wire. Does fbook have a wedding group for your area? Mine does and tons of independent vendors.

I’ve checked on google search and everything that’s coming up seems to be wedding chapels and some random names of people so it’s a little confusing to me, I’ll definitely have to check out facebook though I didn’t even think of that!

I found ours from googling looking for more options after not being thrilled with the offerings on the wedding wire search. Also for some other services I asked my already hired vendors if they knew anyone.

I will also say we are not religious and a non-religious ceremony was very important to me, but our officiant was an ordained minister, and even has “minister” in her business name. I almost didn’t click in but I was really exploring all my options and she was absolutely willing to perform a non-religious ceremony !

As your other vendors, like photographer or venue, if there’s anyone they can recommend. If anyone you reach out to is already booked on your date, ask them if there’s anyone else they can recommend you reach out to. I too had trouble to finding officiants not tied to a church let alone officiants I liked. Eventually after we kept asking for recommendations we found a good one! 😊
