having my mom give me away?

JuneBride2014, on January 15, 2014 at 8:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Ok I'm really struggling on if I should have my mom walk me down, my older son, or just walk myself?

My original plan was to have my dad but now that he isn't able I'm going to have a picture of him on my bouquet and then I thought my older son could walk me. Well I have four boy and one girl so I'm afraid of them being unhappy. So my next thought was just walking myself but the more I think about it the more I want someone to walk with me maybe to keep me from falling lol

So now I'm thinking what about my mother? Ik it's not very common but I think she would feel honored if I ask her.

Do you think this would be to weird?

If your mom is close, then do that.

another idea is your oldest child walking with you being led in by the rest of your children. Or just your children walk in ahead of you and then you walk in with your mom.

Many ways to do this! When it comes to family, follow your heart

I think your mom would be honored! My Dad passed away a few years ago, so I had to do some thinking about who I wanted to give me away. I'm very close with with brother, so I'm having him walk me down the aisle & having my mom walk with my Grandma.

If I were in your shoes, I would choose your mom. I think she will be honored to give you away!

Totally ask your Mom. She'll be so flattered.

My mom get so sad when it's only the dad. She always thinks the mom is a huge part in the raising process. She told me she didn't have to be alone but she wanted to be a part of it. It will be her and my step dad. Long story short, I think your mom would love it! I think it's way more common than it was 30 years ago.

I walked my DD down the aisle, and "gave her away." It is much more common these days...and an HONOR to us single momma's.

In my situation...mommy is still here, and raised me...but ME being older, I feel my oldest son should do it...and he is. =)

I think she will be honored, JuneBride. My dad passed away so my mom will be the one walking me down the aisle.

I think she'll be very honoured Smiley smile I'm having both my mom and dad walk me down the aisle, when I asked her she was very happy & excited.

Both of my parents have passed away, so my favorite aunt and uncle are coming in from Florida to walk me down the aisle. FH's mom is sick and not able to attend, so his Aunt that we live with will stand in place of his mom, and one of my closest friends from work who I consider my step-mom of sorts is going to stand in as my mom.
