Having meals for secret service too

CountryBride, on November 27, 2020 at 5:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

My fiancé uncle is a top government official, He is coming to our wedding and will most likely have secret service there too. I was wondering do I provide meals for them too? they are strictly working however I feel rude to not at least offer something,

If you’re one who believes in offering something to guests (whether it’s food or a beverage) upon entry into your home, then offer. It’s up to the guest to accept or decline. Regardless of if they’re secret service or not, if that’s something you’d normally do to anyone coming to your home or for a special occasion then go ahead.

Any person who attends, be it a guest, security, or vendor, should have food and beverages offered equally. They're going to be there for hours so it's just polite. The same as if the event was in your home.

I would ask your fiancé's uncle because they may not be allowed to eat when they are technically on a job. If they are allowed then definitely feed them, but check to make sure so you aren't losing money

This. Also, as often happens with vendors, they will have only so many on break at once, and many may prefer sandwiches, salads, desserts, rather than hot entrees eaten an hour or two past their best.
A couple of our vendors also plead diet: they cannot eat rich meals 6-10 times a week, and preferred simple fare. Since that is cheaper the venue said no problem. In years of doing catering, vendors and security staff and client health aides always want to eat, but mostly only those starting break as guests start to eat want the meal served guests.

Some caterers do vendor meals, which are usually less fancy and cheaper than guest meals - if yours offers them, that would be what I’d offer.

Totally agree- ask the uncle. Obviously, alcohol shouldn’t be offered since they’ll be working but ask the uncle if it’s ok.

You would ask them just like you would ask your vendors... 2 of my vendors opted out which saved us $75/vendor plate. So I am glad we asked!

I would have food for them. However, I can almost guarantee they won’t eat while working.

I think you should at least offer them a vendor meal.
