Having a S'mores station safely

Jamie, on July 27, 2020 at 12:49 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
So we're still planning on having our Oct. 2020 wedding. Short Ceremony indoors, reception totally outdoors. We're having a bonfire available for S'mores, and I'm trying to think of how to have them safely. All 3 ingredients will be in separate airtight glass jars, but that does mean guests will have to touch the lids and utensils to get the stuff out. We have hand sanitizer and wipes available so people can use both. We're also considering having wooden sticks instead of a few metal ones (although its not eco-friendly, its one less thing to wipe down) but! The wooden ones would be in a pile, so it's possible people can touch multiple sticks before taking theirs, so I don't know if its better to have metal ones or the wooden ones. Should I just scrap the whole thing? It was going to be part of a dessert table of cupcakes, sugar cookies, and S'mores. So without the S'mores, we only have cupcakes and cookies. Not sure what to do??

Maybe you can just have the s’mores kits in individual bags, that way people don’t have to open things and touch the same serving utensils, etc

I was going to suggest the same thing as Melle. We have a s’more vendor hired and they recently posted a picture of how they’re now handling service.

I like Melle's idea! Wrapping them in their own bags or plastic wrap is a great way to keep them separated.

    The kits look cute!

We were going to have a s'mores bar, but decided to scrap it. If we had gone through with it, since the service was being provided by our venue, one of the staff members would've had to essentially serve everyone.
