Having a brunch wedding and don't know when to do photos!

soontobeMarchi!, on July 27, 2017 at 7:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

My FH and I brunch like it's our job ( oh, if only it was!), we're pretty casual people and decided to have a Sunday brunch wedding. In the beginning of planning, I never really put much thought into the timeline for the day of, now I'm about 4 months out and timelines are all I can think about. I have a month of coordinator, but I figured I should probably have an idea of things before I meet with her. My ceremony begins at 10:30 and I'm getting ready at a hotel about a 15 minute drive away. I should be done with hair and makeup by 8:30 am. Do you think I will have enough time to do bridal party photos and first looks before I get to the venue? Should I hold off and try to fit everything in during the cocktail hour photo time? How long does it normally take to take photos? Thanks for the help!

You're having a cocktail hour for brunch? The questions you're asking are what a good coordinator will answer. I thought I had my whole day planned out until my coordinator made the schedule and it's amazing. I think we have an hour for formal family pictures, and an hour before the wedding for bridal party.

Is there usually a cocktail hour during a brunch wedding?

When I was looking at doing a brunch wedding I added in a cocktail hour. It wasn't standard so I added it in

There isn't normally a cocktail hour, but because I'm using the same venue for ceremony and reception and they need 45 min to rearrange the space, I get one.

Did your MUA and hairdresser advise what time they are coming and how much time they need? Also talk to your photographer to see how much time they need for the pictures you want. The photographer should be able to guide you on how things can be arranged from a timing standpoint.

I'm doing a sunday brunch wedding and of course you can have a cocktail hour, it allows time for pictures. we are doing an 11am ceremony and starting the reception at 12:30pm. we are going to do a first look and do bridal party pictures beforehand, and then for the cocktail hour, that will be family photos.

We are having a brunch-ish wedding. We have our venue from 10-2pm so our timeline looks like this:

    8-10: Hair/Makeup

10-10:30 : First look for FH & I; passed mimosas for our guests

    10:40-11 : ceremony

11-12: cocktail hour and family/BP pics

12 : introduction and start lunch

    12:40 : toasts

    12:50 : cake cutting

    12:55 : first dance

    1-2 : dancing

Definitely do as many pictures before the wedding as you can!! You can definitely fit in family and bridal party pictures in that time! It always takes longer than you think to take pictures...

Following because I'm wondering the same thing. I was actually going to skip doing a first look but now I'm not sure.

I really wanted to have first look photos, even if it was just a few. Aside from the ceremony, first looks are really important to me, so I'll do what I have to make sure I get some!

Our photographer said we would need about an hour for immediate family/bridal party photos, and about half an hour for couple photos. if you have a big bridal party or want a lot of different family photos with extended family, etc., it might take longer. based on your schedule, it seems like you should have time to do a decent number of photos before the wedding, and you can always do the couples photos during your cocktail hour.

We did about 1/2 an hour of pictures before the ceremony with me and my BM's, my mom, aunt, dad, etc. FH did the same with his family and GM's with a second shooter. After the ceremony we did group pictures with WP and families and pictures of just h and I. We finished in 45 minutes. It really doesn't take that long.

@Ella and @ErinWood how many people do you have in your bridal party? We were considering getting a second shooter but our BP is small. 3 GMs and 3 BMs plus the parents
