Have you ever been asked to change your wedding date?

My grandpa apparently wanted me to change my wedding date. My sister got a year long extension on a plane ticket that she couldn't use and it expires a week before my wedding. My grandpa apparently wanted me to change my wedding date. My sister got a year long extension on a plane ticket that she couldn't use and it expires a week before my wedding. Silly think is that he didn't consider that since she's in the wedding party, she was planning on coming up 1-2 weeks early, so it's fine.

Luckily I had my Oma defending me, "No Gene, it's set in stone, the wedding date cannot change and that's the end of it..."

My date really couldn't change, we really only have 2 weeks here with a very low chance of rain before it becomes like 105 degrees every day, and that was the only available weekend for FH and I!

I asked a lot of people about the date before we chose it. We checked with the whole wedding party, parents, and area events. I had asked what dates the venue had available, and they were able to hold one for me for a week until we could confirm it would work.

I kind of swayed one friend's date and maybe one of FH's friend's dates. We knew our date before we got engaged on Halloween last year (we picked out rings early April 2013). So we got engaged and had a good idea. Then we book the date April 2013. FH's friend (who shares the same friends from back home) got engaged in May and they were thinking our date. Our friend got engaged in June and ended up choosing two weeks after ours so that our mutual friends can come and it would give us enough time for a honeymoon. It worked out since that was the day of their dating anniversary, too. I never said anything, but we've made our date known for a while now. Secretly hoping FH's friend changes theirs so that we can attend his and he can attend ours and the friends can attend both. October is a busy month in Ohio!

Ugh! My FMIL asked us to change it because the Super Bowl was the next day and her brother does a lot of business during it (CEO of a high profile energy company). How could we have not considered this? Um, hello...he has a jet, I'm pretty sure he can make it. But oh, EmmyJ we barely get to see him, well FMIL you have 6 months to spend some quality time.

When we told our BM our possible date, he replied, "But, that's my wedding day!" So, we made ours a week later and he came home from his honeymoon in time to be our BM.

Originally I had want to do a fall wedding in early October and the date I had originally picked for 2015 was the opening day of bow hunting season. FH (who rarely goes bow hunting anymore) wanted me to change it so he wasn't giving up the option of going bow hunting on opening weekend for the rest of his life!

@Di: Same boat! It was suggested to us by our venue and hotels that we change the date. All of the hotels downtown have agreements to hold rooms for season ticket holders and since the Steelers schedule isn't released until February, we didn't know until six months out if we'd be okay or not. We actually had random strangers try to book up our hotel block claiming to be our guests so they could lock down rooms for the game. Luckily it's fine- the Browns game is away this year anyhow; so we lucked out!

Oh my god YES! We originally wanted September 13th and when I told my Dad and Stepmom that I got an email asking if it was "set in stone" because there was a really important horse show that they always attend..." The brat in me wanted to book that date but luckily for them it ended up not being available so we went with our date 2 weeks later....

Well...I was given two weekends that worked for my dad, and those two happened to be the two weekends FH's cousin is going out of the country and said we absolutely could not get married then. Oops...well, we're not delaying the wedding for another year just so cousin can be there. If it wasn't for parental input we could already be married, but waiting until October was manageable and we wanted my parents to be able to be there. So we picked the first one my dad had as available.

We asked the family about any weddings known to the family before we picked a date. We picked the date and set it in stone. Then the news came about others that chose it after us for other events. Like another wedding out of state for my uncles wife. I was happy to know they decided to go to my wedding and visit the couple out of state for the weekend. Then the MOH's uncle is getting married before our wedding and decided that was a great day for his reception.
