Have vs Has - grammar help!

What should it say?

A block of rooms HAVE been reserved at the.....

Or

A block of rooms HAS been reserved at the...

I'm driving nuts trying to figure this out!!

Has. Because it's referring to "a block" not "rooms", if you're looking for why

Has. I had to correct this on my invitation as well. The printer put "have". I actually Googled and found old WW posts, and "has" is correct if the phrase begins with "a block of".
If you remove the "a block of" then the subject becomes plural "Rooms HAVE been reserved at the..."
I proofread those suckers so much that by the end I was so batty even my own name didn't look like it was spelled correctly.
