Hashtag

I'm old too, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with Instagram and/or other social media. My understanding is that when you have a hashtag, your friends and family can use that tag to post pictures they take at your wedding reception. Then at the end of the day (or the end of the honeymoon), you can "collect" all of those photos, just by searching under the hashtag. I guess it's kind of an organizational tool, now that social media is so popular.

You may be paying for professional photos, but nowadays with cell phone cameras, there are usually a lot of candid photos taken by guests. They will post to their own individual Instagram accounts, or Facebook, then you can search under one tag as opposed to searching every guest's name.

For all you youngsters out there, do I have that right????

It's totally okay, Mindy! I'm on the younger side and had no clue people used wedding hashtags until WeddingWire!
