Hashtag Printers

Jasmine, on September 16, 2019 at 1:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

I came across this company called Luster and I figured it would be expensive but man oh man was it beyond what I thought. It's widely used for businesses. I looked through all the different things they offered and I saw hashtag printers. It's like the ONLY thing we could even afford off that list Smiley xd Either way, I think it's still another great way to keep things interactive and for guests to have a keepsake.

You would create a unique hashtag related to your event (wedding or otherwise). They take photos from their own phone or any other device. They would then upload it to their twitter/instagram with your hashtag and the hashtag printer instantly prints out a 2" x 3" of the photo they just uploaded. We're definitely going to do it for ours! The concept is pretty cool!

*FYI: They provide an operator who sets up, breaks down and stays on site! Also, there are additional travel fees for any locations outside of their local markets in NYC, L.A., Las Vegas, Phoenix, Chicago, San Francisco, London and Toronto.*

Right!! Neither have I and it definitely caught my attention. Started talking to a rep and we're going to book it hopefully today. Amazing thing with them too is that you don't pay anything until the day of your event!

As was I. After I looked on the site I'm like we can totally find out how much it is and then I almost choked cause what I WANTED to do was a mosaic which would come with the printers and all the photos that are printed would be posted on the board next to it (mosaic) would end up revealing one large photo. Their cheapest price for that is $12k. That was a hard pass for me lol but I'm not surprised considering they're marketing for businesses but still! I was a bit disappointed.

What's the cost of that vs a photobooth?

Good question. I never looked into photo booths but I've heard some run in the thousands. I mean I'm pretty sure it would also depend on which company one would go with. I think I'll probably take a look. Thanks for bringing that up.

I'm confused. The business is the one who takes the photos and uploads it to ig/Twitter or your guests? Is the printer something you rent to have or the pictures print in their office and they mail them to you afterwards?

Sorry for so many questions, I've reread it a few times I'm just slow at processing 😂

Yea sometimes. I'm getting married in CA but I honestly never even thought about looking into photo booths and now I feel a little dumb lol. If I find a booth I like around that price, hell yea I'll end up just going with a booth.

LOL it's ok. My brain functions the same way sometimes. So the business would set up the printers for you (which you would be renting from them) and then your guests would snap their own photos from their phones and upload it to their social media using whichever hashtag you created and then it will print right in front of them. So the printers would be at your venue. Someone brought up a good question though about the difference between that and a photo booth so now I'm looking into photo booths because I'm an idiot and didn't think of doing that in the first place Smiley xd

OHHHH hahahaha okay that makes so much more sense now 😂

Who knows, maybe it could be easier than a photobooth in a sense it's more portable? That would be my guess anyway lol. Very interesting though!

Yea, quite interesting but I'm actually seeing some photo booth places that have options like kiosks rather than a full blown covered booth so I'm definitely going to explore my options more. Especially if I can save money. It looks like a lot of these also have the same functionalities which I never knew because I never looked up photo booths before. The more you know, right?
