Has anyone tried HotelPlanner.com for discounts on room rates? I put in a request a few days ago and got a list of hotels with much lower rates & links to book. They also sent me a few hotels that would do room blocks.

I love that I can send the link with all the hotels to my guest list and they can pick if they want the more expensive ones or a budget deal.

It's almost too good to be true. I sort of expect there to be some sort of catch.

The only "catch" is that you could almost certainly get better rated by contacting the hotel(s) directly. I worked in that industry for years; we typically have to increase the rate if a third party is taking a cut like this. And you know the service isn't doing it out of pure goodness of their hearts. Say they earn 10%; that means the rate will need to be 10% higher for the hotel to make the same as they would if you booked directly.
