Has anyone taken some of their crinoline out?

Kara, on January 6, 2017 at 12:36 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi guys! My dress has quite a few layers of rough tulle and crinoline. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with taking some of this out to make it less poofy. Any before and after photos?

Can we see a pic of your dress? Mine is a mermaid with crinoline to puff out the bottom a little and I considered removing some but I think I've decided against it. I'm afraid it wouldn't lay right without it.

Sure! It doesn't look super puffy but there is just soooo much crinoline!

Be warned, when you take poof away, your dress will get longer and you may need it hemmed more.

I would think it would look okay since it's not that puffy so the shape wouldn't change too much. I would definitely see what your seamstress thinks.

I echo what @pressthestarkey said, if you take out tulle, you will likely need it hemmed, which is expensive, never mind that it will likely also cost money to remove the tulle, so you're kind of paying double.

My mum kept insisting I take out layers of tulle from mine and I just kept being like NEVER, I LOVE THE POOF, but in all seriousness, I'm 5'9" and didn't need it hemmed with all the tulle in and steamed, and that saved me $300.

I have thought about doing it with mine but read a few stories about how it can completely change the look of the dress. I don't want to mess with it and then regret it so I've decided to keep it as is.

I am removing a couple layers as well. My dress is A-Line, and when I tried it on, the sales woman showed me how to tuck it to see what it would look like with and without. We put a special note in when we ordered to remove a couple layers. As OG Alecia stated, it was something they did routinely.
