Has anyone successfully sold a dress? Advice?

M, on August 3, 2020 at 3:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
*seeking advice on selling a dress, not trying to sell the dress on this forum* I’m selling a dress I bought as a sample that’s only been worn to try on and has not had any alterations. Anyone else have luck selling a gown? Any pros or cons of Stillwhite vs Preowned Wedding Dresses vs other sites? I’m also going to list it on Facebook Marketplace and post it in some local wedding groups

I posted this before and it got deleted- Thank you to those who responded on the original post

Mine has been posted on eBay since March on eBay and April on Preowned... so far no luck and I’ve dropped the price considerably. It is a brand new unaltered dress $1500 and I have the price listed at $175 - I’m about to drop it again

Those are all great options! I'd also recommend Poshmark, although they do take a percentage of your earnings. I bought my Martina Liana dress on there, with an original price of $2,599 and bought it unworn and unaltered for $1200!

I think it’s very hard to sell a dress. I used to browse ore owned a lot, and I created a list of favorites...this would have been 2018..some of them are still there!! Granted, maybe some sellers don’t update when a gown sells. But still...I think there are just so many gowns available, it makes it hard.

Since your dress is not altered, that’s a plus. I’d list it low, you won’t get full retail even if it’s in perfect condition. Also try Facebook marketplace. I hear good things about things selling things there. Good luck!
