Has anyone had their flower girls/ring bearers not stay standing?

Kara, on January 6, 2017 at 3:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Hi guys! Has anyone had their flower girls/ring bearers sit down with parents after the ceremony begins? I just fear that for 2-4 year olds, even 15 mins is a long time to stand up and behave (their little kids for goodness sake!). What would people think of having parents in the front row and them sitting down to stand up again when the recessional begins? Thanks for your input Smiley smile

My friend had her flower girls walk then sit in one of the first rows with her parents. I think it's fine especially since little ones are easily distracted.

Yes. I recommend this actually. And if they start to get noisy? They leave.

You could have the parents sit close to the front to be at the ready if the kids look antsy. Parents can usually tell when it's about to go down.

Oh ours are absolutely sitting with their parents. Our ceremony will be about 45 minutes so it's far too long. They're walking down the aisle straight to their parents, then at the very end they'll walk out following FH and I (in theory! Kids can be unpredictable)

Yes! Ours are FH kids and I'm not going to make them stand up there. They will walk down the aisle and sit down in the front row.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think I've ever seen the flower girl and ring bearer stand for the ceremony! I've always seen them sit down in the first few rows with their parents!

I had my flower girls sit in the first row once they reached the front.

I dont expects my FG and RB to stand. I'm planning for them to sit with their Moms since my bros are in bridal party.

I think I've been to a fair number of weddings, and I can't think of a single one where the fg and rb stood, they all walked down the aisle, looked adorable, and sat in the first or second row with their parent or person charged with watching them during ceremony.

Ours didn't stand the whole time. The older one (4) went and sat with his grandma and the little one (2) actually wanted to stay up there but was just held by his dad who was a gm.

Its pretty normal to have them sit. Just have their mom or dad sit near the front and on the end, but on the far side (not on the aisle). That way, the FG or RB can discreetly go sit with mom or dad and if they fuss, mom or dad can easily scoop them out of there!

I've been to probably 7 weddings in the last few years and they all have stood. Maybe it's a regional thing? Glad it's not the case everywhere!

Yep, our flower girls (no ring bearer) sat down with their parents during the ceremony after they were done being adorable little petal throwing muffins.

Most weddings I've been to have let them sit after going down the isle. I think it's better personally, just because they are kids and who knows how long a ceremony will hold their attention enough to stand still and quiet

Definitely have them sit! In my friend's wedding, the flower girls parents were both in the bridal party (the flower girl was her niece) so they went and sat with their grandparents. The grandparents also had some quiet, not messy snacks (I think it was a cut up banana) and a book ready for the flower girl to keep her occupied so she wouldn't get noisy.
