Has anyone gotten married at a Sandals Resort?

Mr. Bigglesworth, on December 14, 2010 at 12:39 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 33

I believe we're planning to have our wedding and honeymoon at a Sandals resort and I'm just wondering if anyone has done the same and if you have feedback?

No but I have a friend who did..in Negril...I can ask about her experience. Oh I have another one who got married at Sandals and said it was awesome. MY honeymoon was there and hubby and I had a blast! Worth every penney!

Where was your honeymoon, which one? I believe we're planning on Royal Bahamian for the wedding and honeymoon. From speaking to them and researching everything seems to good to be true! I'd love any info you can pass on!

That would be awesome! But i would think only if you have a smaller wedding, just because of the distance people would have to travel. Unless you a do a very intimate ceremony and have a reception or something back here where everybody else could attend .... just an idea.

I always thought I'd have my parents to help pay for my wedding but when the economy crashed as did their businesses, so we're on our own with paying for our wedding. After about 10 months of trying to plan a wedding I think we've decided on a small quick wedding at a Sandals with our closest family and friends. I get more and more excited about it each day!

I booked a wedding there and canceled it. It came out to be so expensive for everything I wanted which wasn't much. If it is a small group going, it would have worked out great, but for a large group, be prepared to get your check book ready!

Before you book, request all of the add-on brochures. Plus prices change all of the time. For the wedding I was looking at is was around $15,000 that didn't include our room.

We have switched to another location, and I am spending $1300.00. (Food, ceremony, limo's & reception for 50 people). However, we did get a house that is around 5000.00

If you book one of their packages, have a large group, and feed them, you have to buy extra tables and chairs ($500.00 for 10 people)

Don't get me wrong, the resorts are BEAUTIFUL, we are saving that trip for our Anniversary.

From what I've gathered, which includes a lot of speaking with Sandals and research, will get our wedding for free because we are booking a 6 night stay in a concierge level room. We will end up spending about 6k. Our guests who choose not to stay at the resort with have to buy a day pass for $190 to come to the resort for the wedding and dinner.

Is this not what you did? We're doing the most basic wedding package and staying at the resort for the super duper small reception and dinner at one of their restaurants.

Congrats Carly, I'm also a November bride :0 woo hoo...lol

I'm doing a destination wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, though it will be for 100 guests, flying from everywhere.

    Where will yours be?

Quick question: are you paying for flights/lodging for your guests? If so, your budget may skyrocket. If not, it may be considered rude. It's a double edged sword! That's all partly why I decided to not go with a DW, or Destination Wedding since you're new and may not be familiar with our crazy lingo yet lol Smiley smile

I've been to several DW and I'v always paid for my own accomadations, I never expected the Bride or Groom to pay my way, the way I see it is, it's a vacation at the same time you're with friends and family celebrating a beautiful occasion. I won't be paying for my guests besides the day of the wedding fees. Can't wait!!

I've also been to a few DW and have paid for my flight and stay. My invited guests will be asked to pay their way however they know if it's not affordable for them we completely understand and it's our loss that they can't be there. We're doing the DW bc it's best for us at this time in our lives and if it ends up just being us two, we'll be happy Smiley smile

We'll most likely be booking at Royal Bahamian on Nassau in the Bahamas Smiley smile

The Bahamas is a beautiful Island, I'm in love with DW!! lol, just the whole back drop and the 2 for 1 you get out of the whole trip seems wonderful to me.

I def did my research before booking, I was trying to make sure it wasn't crazy expensive but still a great quality resort for everyone to enjoy and afford.

Have you been in contact with the coordinators at the resort?

I think it's going to be a great fit! We're doing our wedding and honeymoon there, therefore killing two birds with one stone and saving lots of money. I have been speaking to them for hours yesterday and today each time I have a question. I have exact prices from them on everything and made sure to ask about any hidden taxes or fees I need to know about. This seems like an incredible opportunity at such an affordable cost! Unlimited food, drink, and water sports, who can beat that!?

Hey congrats and I think you should tell your guests about the great site www.cheapcaribbean.com/ I am sure your hotel is listed there for cheaper price or another hotel nearby for your guests. But it doesn't book ahead of time for cheaper prices like now for Nov. Only like 2 or three months before. Sometimes airfare is included Smiley smile

My MOH's brother got married in Bahamas. She said it was great but not for her. It was an extremely small group. Looked great, right on the water, beautiful but felt like a factory wedding.
