Has anyone ever felt like this?!

Natalia, on September 6, 2019 at 9:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

My Fiance and I got engaged in December of 2018. I was so excited that I feel like I rushed the planning and was too quick to book a venue. Also I was influenced by his family to book that venue because it was bigger and the others were too small (which idk why it mattered if it's OUR wedding and we would be the ones deciding how many guests we have not them). Now I look back and wish I would've done things differently. I would've took my time and thought about how I really wanted our wedding to be. Also, I would've involved less people in the planning because it's been stressful having to deal with opinionated people. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, we are still having a beautiful wedding and I'm sure none of this will matter after we're married. Just wanted to vent! Lol

My FMIL said once that the wedding is more for the families than the couple. I know it's a polarizing opinion, but I personally agree. As far as my FH and I were concerned, we would have been perfectly happy eloping or getting married at the courthouse. But both of our families wanted to be there - it's kind of an opportunity for a family reunion of sorts, too. Large families that are spread out tend to only get together for weddings and funerals.

I was also once told that no matter what happens, you will still be married at the end of the day. Those kind of details don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Focus on what is important to you (and perhaps close family members), and work with what you've got.

I feel the same way!!! There were so many venue we wanted but said no to. Mainly because we wanted our own catering company. Along with it being too far out of the budget. His mom wanted us to have it there but not willing to help with the extra cost. We really didn’t want to get married at a church. We ended up at a church anyway due to the cost and having the option for our own catering company. When it’s all said and done, we’re still getting married and everything else isn’t a big deal for us personally.

I wish I would have taken my time too! I know we probably would have still picked our venue due to cost, but I definitely rushed my dress. Unfortunately deposits have been paid so I just have to be happy with what I picked.

I completely understand! I wanted to do our ceremony somewhere other than a church but we will most likely end up doing it there because of cost.

I rushed my dress too. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it ha ha It was the 3rd one I tried on, I wish I would've tried more. It's a beautiful dress, but if I would've thought it through and took my time it probably wouldn't have been the dress I would've picked. I let the excitement get to me, but ohh well I think once I make alterations and have my hair and makeup I will feel good!

The church we’re renting has everything we were looking for plus a little extra. Here’s what the ceremony part looks like.

That's what I'm hoping for mine. Maybe minor alterations will make me love it. I also haven't tried it on in months so we'll see 🙏

Yes!!!!! Every day I think I should have eloped! Lol. We are having a wedding next year and it’s been so stressful. I wish we just went with a destination wedding or waited a few months longer.
