Has anyone done electronic save the dates?

Sarah, on October 16, 2019 at 8:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
I'm trying to cut costs a little bit on stationary and would love to email save the dates and send a paper invitation. Has anyone tried this? What is your honest opinion?

Honestly, I think that's fine. Some people don't even send save the dates out at all so sending an electronic one shouldn't be an issue. I'd link it to your wedding website and touch base with the older guests that might not regularly check email to make sure they received it.

Yes. We used PaperlessPost. It was cheap and easy to use. Plus, you can track who opened it. You can also turn on an address collector option- so all your guests can submit their mailing address to you when they get their save-the-date. Saves a lot of information collecting.

I will be sharing the STD electronically. It will come in the form of a happy new year email with a link to our website. I think it's fine. To be honest, I haven't paid attention to my cousins' STD since she sent it. I'm more technology. I would offer snail mail or phone calls for the older generations that are not tech-savvy.

I just did our save the date announcement through evite and it worked perfectly. In the message, I asked that they wait to RSVP until the actual invitation comes out as we need their guest names and dinner entree selection.

We did. We’re only inviting 48 people though and only had one or two that aren’t computer savvy and even those two were able to reply to it. We also asked for mailing addresses in it so people were able to add their address and it is now on the website so we can print out our address list.

I think it makes more sense. I never understood the point of them or the cost. I created a Facebook event page for it & i'm SO glad I did I sent out about 75 invites and only got 5 RSVP's back. Luckily most people had accepted on the event page

I didn’t send them, but I’ve received one, and I thought it was a great idea. I’m team Paper Invite for Life, but not thing wrong with a e-save the date. My friend used , I think, paperless post, and it was a save the date AND it had a place to write in your address, which I honestly thought was genius!

We used paperless post as well, it was inexpensive but I think it is experientially nicer than just an email... I did custom artwork for ours and liked that you can get coordinated paper invites

I think is fine in the world we live in today and it would save you time and money. I had a friend send out a video wedding invitation over email and it was so original and so funny. It was definitely a really creative idea.

I personally prefer paper save the dates but I've received plenty of electronic save the dates and they are just as lovely. You do what's best for you. If you're still torn, I recommend checking out Snapfish, Zazzle, Vistaprint, etc. They run great deals, especially around Black Friday. I 110 save the dates from Snapfish for $60. I also use Ebates and Honey and have found plenty of coupons.
