Has anyone done away with colors?

ARIEL, on June 13, 2019 at 3:21 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

My fiance and I are having a really hard time finding a color scheme we absolutely like and I got an idea! How about we just go black and white! Make it a black and white affair.

What's your opinion on black and white weddings?

Would it make it too formal and stiff?

Has anyone else gone black and white or done away with colors?

****Update: I think we are going for white and gold with hints of black******

I don't think there's anything wrong with going B&W. You definitely wouldn't be the first ones to do it and honestly, if going B&W is less stress for you since you're having issues finding colors that you guys want, then go for it!

Black and white can be beautiful. It does have a more formal feel to me, so if you're going for casual or rustic, I would avoid that color scheme.

I think it's a great idea. Will definitely feel more on the formal side. My co-worker is doing this and requesting everyone wear black. I think it will look so amazing when she's the only person in white! If you are doing florals there will still likely be greenery- so keep that in mind. You could also go for just a neutral colour palette (greenery, whites, browns, etc.)

I think a black and white wedding would be very pretty, and there is tons of inspiration on Pinterest. To me, it does appear more formal, but I think you can still have fun with it and make it what you want it to be. Once you and your FH start putting your spin on things and making it yours, I think that will determine the level of formality too. You could also consider adding a metallic like gold/silver/rose gold/copper, and/or adding greenery so that your colors are black and white but the decor has greenery for more visual interest. Best wishes and happy planning!

I think black and white can work, i'm just wondering if you're ok with other women wearing white dresses too? if so, then it's all good. i would suggest maybe add another neutral color accent like gold or something to give it a little extra jazz

Black and white wedding party outfits and black and white decor will make for wonderfully dramatic pictures. Maybe don't pass the colour scheme onto guests-- a normal dress code will be great fun, when the entire venue is decked out in black and white but full of colourful guests!

Consider flowers carefully though, they might be hard to match with monochrome. These sites have some good ideas: https://www.wedding-venues.co.uk/wedding-ideas/2016/wedding-ideas-by-colour-black-and-white-wedding-theme https://www.happywedding.life/en/tips/wedding-planning-ceremony/international-themed-tailored/43669/inb Or maybe a single red rose or something for drama!

For my, I have no problem with other women wearing white but in my head I pictured everyone wearing black. Don't know why.

So we are now thinking white and gold ceremony and reception. Bridesmaids and groomsmen will be in black and we are even thinking to ask or guest to also wear black so we will be the only ones in white.

My cousin recently got married and she asked all guests to wear black, so it’s absolutely okay for you to request that.
