How is it? What time do you have to start getting ready?

I am having a morning wedding. I am going to have a first dance and a father/daughter dance but I really don't expect anyone to dance after that. It will be a different vibe than an evening/dinner wedding (which is what I wanted).

The person doing my hair and make up will be at my hotel at 6am to get started, so I am most likely going to wake up around 5:30ish (trust me, I am already dreading it) and let my MOH/bridesmaids sleep in a little longer and they can get theirs done after me.

We had one. Ceremony was at 10:40. Started getting ready at 5:30. Not many people danced, which we knew would happen, but everyone still had a good time.

Was the reception around 11:30 to 5pm? Still people didn't dance?

I was in a wedding that started at 11 am and we were about 35 minutes late due to getting ready. The reception was on a boat so it was a bit different in general but people did drink, though there wasn’t a ton of dancing (I think because of the space and you know the water moving lol). It was stressful on the bride, so I would recommend starting to get ready at the latest 5 am for anything around a 10 am or so Ceremony start.

If I went to a morning wedding, I wouldn't expect to dance- I'd expect a light meal (think brunch) and some mingling, then leaving after eating and talking for a bit. I'd think tops of like a 2-3 hour reception. I certainly wouldn't expect to be at a morning wedding to be an all day affair.

My ceremony was scheduled for 11:45 because that was the only time we could get the venue. We started getting ready with the HMUA at 8am. Ceremony ended up starting at Noon due to transportation issues. I was panicking for the hour before the ceremony. Neither my DH nor I are morning people, and he ended up forgetting one of his tasks. The only good thing about having the ceremony that early was that the afternoon was hotter than forecast and I might've sweltered in that dress outside. It was still a lovely ceremony but I would totally advise against it if you can avoid it!

    11-12 - cocktail hour

    12-2 - lunch reception.

I had a morning wedding the first time, and an early afternoon one the second. But then again, I didn't have a huge number of BMs and a complicated "getting ready." I mean, think about it--you get ready every morning before work, and you don't have to get up five or six hours before work to do it. If you keep your hair and make-up simple (or even do it yourself), and let your BMs (if you have any) get ready on their own, it's just not that hard.

We do hundreds of them; generally, for our 11:30 walk time, our BP's will be in makeup by 5:30 or 6:

    AM.

A few of our venues have full shades on their windows and built in uplighting; by the time the first dance is over, the crowd is pumped to dance, but that's what the couple orchestrated. I've done more 'brunchy' ones too, with background music and little dancing. Either can happen, depending on what you want.

I went to an early wedding (maybe noon) and we all were dancing...the floor was packed and it was a dry wedding lol (I was sad about that.) You have to make it a party atmosphere...I doubt if the dj is playing awesome dance music that no one would get up and dance. Our wedding will be at 12:30pm and we have a dj that is known for making people dance.

My aunt had a morning wedding and it was one of my favorite weddings ever, but it's not a "party" as much. She had a jazz band and brunch, so it was classy and I love brunch food, so I liked that!

I had an 11 am wedding. The day went from 11-5. The dance floor was full during the reception.

The only morning wedding I've been to with reception immediately after, there was barely any dancing. Most people left right after brunch ended.

1030 am, but we need to leave for ceremony site no later than 945. HMUA is coming at 745, but I'm the only one having it done.

Mine will be 11-4 and I agree that the DJ will play a huge role in setting the mood. We have told ours we want to dance and the playlist looks amazing! Also with both of our families I know there won't be a lack of dancing just because of the time of day, they are always ready to party! Morning weddings often come with a discount at venues so I would at least consider it.

I'm not a morning person, but the evening slot at my venue had a significantly higher minimum so we went with the morning/early afternoon slot. Our ceremony will be at 11am and the cocktail hour/reception will run until about 4pm.
