Has anyone cover the carpet of a ballroom?

Stephanie, on August 15, 2023 at 6:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
I do not like the carpet of the ballroom because it will not go with the decoration. I am thinking on working with the lights to make the ballroom look better. It does not look good with bright lights it will have to be more of a dark vibe like candle lights I think.
I know many people say that you don’t pay attention to that but I do 😂 and you can definitely see the floor on pictures.

If anyone has cover the carpet, how much on average this can cost?
Or any decoration ideas?

There are companies that will lay down temporary flooring. Basically, they would lay down a wood flooring over the carpet, which could then be removed after your event (similar to laying down a dance floor). I’m not sure what your budget is, but with a ball room that size, you are likely looking at $10,000+

Thank you!! We might end up closing an area of the ballroom, those are like two or three rooms combined. that’s around the price I was thinking, very expensive lol😭

Right. block off area you are not needing. Much of the floor will be hidden by tables, decorations, and dance floor(?). The other goal is to provide interesting stuff to capture people's attention -- but who is looking much at the floor anyhow? You can include color lights or lightstands. Garlands and plants are possible.

I've heard of it, but like Cece said it's expensive. I don't think anyone else will notice or care about the carpet.

That is a major safety hazard. Guests never notice the flooring unless it is extreme: uneven flooring, sticky, tiles missing and holes in the floor. Once you have tables in the room, no one will see what you don’t like. If it is a dealbreaker, find a different venue with no carpet.

Have you purchased your decorations/anything in your colors yet? If not, even if you had some in mind, it might be easier to switch up the decorations to fit the room instead. I totally agree with you that even if the guests won’t notice, it’ll be in the pictures. You can also ask your photographer to get plenty of pictures framing above the ground so that you’ll have some to pick from where the floor is either not in the picture or barely noticeable. My venue selected a ballroom for us as a rain backup that would have clashed horribly with our colors, and because of the pictures I went full Bridezilla to get us into a different room. 😂

What is your color scheme and decor plan? Maybe we can come up with ideas. Will there be a dancefloor in the center?

Like Kimberly, I think you should lean into those colors but also bring the eye up to decor that does matter. Does the venue have pics of other weddings for ideas?

Haha omg is this in Puerto Rico! I literally couldn’t stand so many floors which dictated my final decision. Hope you get some answers. Or maybe darker lights?

Start reception after sunset, then dim the lights low and the floor design is barely visible. Strategic lighting will then direct where the eyes go. Imagine dimmed chandeliers, candles on each table, and dancing lights on the (wood) dance floor. Maybe even throw in some uplights to set the tone. To top it all off, tell the photographer to minimize the floor in pictures. Your wedding will be so beautiful.

Thank you! ☺️we will block the areas we don't need, and add some plants around, also play with the lighting in the room.

Lmaoo that is something I would do too 😂 We have not picked anything for decoration yet. I had some colors in mind like white, gold, a blush to add a bit of color, and greenery, but now I am not sure because of the floor.

    Thanks for your recommendation!

Yes it is in Puerto Rico!! I honestly didn't even think about the floor until I realized it was going to be impossible to cover because its so expensive. I love the venue but I can't stand that carpet 😂 I will definitely go with darker lights.

Thank you so much. Your are absolutely right. it is all about strategic lighting, the right illumination and decoration will make a huge difference. I've seen beautiful decorations in that ballroom, I will talk to my decorator about it and see what he suggests.
