Hardest parts of a destination wedding

Kathryn, on February 3, 2020 at 9:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
1. The distance

2. Making the connections (vendors and the like)
3. Getting the feel of the space
4. Questioning who will go the distance when inviting friends and family
5. Not knowing what’s in the surrounding area

I feel this and it isnt even a destination, its just the fact that we are trying to have the wedding in the state we're moving to this summer. (IN -> ME, his home state) We've had vendors not respond to us after we mention we cant do in-person stuff until August

Yes, a DW is more challenging but it can be done. We toured venues 13 months before our wedding. After we chose our fav, the venue was awesome at emailing us floor plans, photos & recommended vendors. We also used WW & Yelp.

A DW is very costly for guests. We ended up doing a micro DW then a local reception back home. Happy we did that!

Exactly how I feel!!! Thankfully my sister/ MOH lives on the island and I have her planning that kind of stuff. I’ve found in 2020 though most stuff is easy to do online.
We’ve had a lot of FH family say they can’t go. His brother, mother and father will not be attending. 😐 trying to make the best of what we can

I invited 18 people I have 12 coming so not a bad turn out.

I’m sorry to hear that. Maybe a family member can go as your representative?

Well the destination isn’t too far. Actually most of the people we know go there for vacation. Funny enough the band we wanted can’t come because one of their members will be on vacation the weekend of our weeding 😂

That’s great! It sounds like you *should* have a good turnout. Oh no on the band! 😝

We were going to run into the problem of some family members not being able to attend. I worked around my sisters’ schedules to plan a weekend they could go, and then FH and I made the decision to pay for everyone’s plane tickets so we know that everyone could come. 10 total including us.
