Hangover remedies

April, on April 8, 2021 at 9:34 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 20
I’m not that much of a drinker since my early 20’s, now that I’m older I can’t have more then maybe 2-3 drinks without ruining my sleep and being super hungover the next day.I don’t plan on getting drunk on my wedding day, but I don’t necessarily want to be worried about exactly how many drinks I have and would love to just have a good time. Does anyone have or know of any hang over remedies or something I can take before hand to not have to deal with all the hangover stuff? I can actually deal with the next day but, during the night I’m up and restless and super thirsty and that is usually what ruins the next day for me. I’m a sleep worshiper and need my sleep! I hope some one can relate and has some advice for me!

There isn't really a magical cure unfortunately, as it's a physiological response. The best suggestion is to just stay hydrated. For every drink you consume, try to drink a glass of water as well. The symptoms of a hangover are your body processing the alcohol and its effects (alcohol leads to more frequent urination which can dehydrate you, triggers an inflammatory response from your immune system, etc.). It also interferes with your body's ability to go into deep sleep, so you feel less well-rested.

My hubby has told me to take motrin before going to bed and to drink Gatorade or powerade, as well as water since your body will need the electrolytes!

I eat a small meal and drink atleast one bottle of water right before bed and then another one when I wake up and eat immediately after and I’m usually okay.

Go super heavy on the water! I always feel the best after a night of heavy drinking with lots of water.

It’s nothing that helps with hangovers. It’s a Myth myth when it comes to water. this is good though because if you drink water you’re drinking less alcohol in between.

My uncle Believes we need takes prenatal pills it helps with a hangover .But logically you were putting poison in your body. Nothing is going to make you feel better as long as it’s taking affect.

As all the others have said, if you really do imbibe too much there's not much you can do, but look up Korean pear juice! You drink it prior to drinking on the day, and it's supposed to help prevent hangovers! It's not a standard type of pear, but a variety only grown/found in Korea. It's sold where I live under the name Bae Juice, and there are scientific studies indicating it may help. I bought some for my sister's hens and all her guests said they felt like it helped! I'm sure there must be a brand sold in America.

The other thing I do think helps is kombucha with probiotics and/or gatorade the next day, but probably drinking any kind of liquid the night of or next day would help.

Oh, and one friend I knew swore by 2 paracetamols, 2 ibuprofen and 1 hydralyte (or rehydration type drinks) before bed.

Very curious. What does he think they do to help? Having now reached the age of the dreaded 2-day hangover, I'm open to trying anything that might work, haha!

I don’t know I chuckled when he told me this. He is a man that is a man for him to take prenatal pills. Well I can tell you this he lives by it. I’m not much of a drinker so I’ve never had to give it a try . But maybe Give it a go it sure won’t Hurt. If anything we may get pregnant ha ha!

Gronk says, for every alcoholic drink you drink, you need to have a glass of water right after that drink and you won’t have a hangover. Also, when you do have a hangover the next morning miso soup!!

I second the glass of water method! This is what I do every time I know I'm going to drink excessively and I've NEVER had a hangover!

Never heard the miso soup one, pretty neat!

Liquid IV packs are also life savers after/during a long time of just drinking alcohol!

Yes, I actually heard the miso soup thing from a nurse who was doing a hangover segment on tv! Lol She was talking about the different nutrients in it and how it builds electrolytes or something like that but AnyWho I tried it and it really does help bring you back to life. It’s definitely not going to 100% spark you up and make you climb a mountain LOL but it definitely helps with the head spins and body aches!

It’s so crazy… I never ever used to get hangovers when I was younger! No matter how much I drink! Even if I was throwing up the night prior! I never ever used to get a hangover! The second I hit like 24, that was it! Now I get terrible hangovers!

It’s so funny how people’s bodies change! I am the complete opposite. When I was in college, I would get horrible hangovers! Then around 23,24 I just stopped getting them!
I will agree with other posters about drinking water between each alcoholic drink. One of the main reasons you feel bad the morning after drinking is because you are dehydrated.

When finishing a drink wait about an hour before the next one but be sure to drink water in between (how I drink now😂) My FSIL would always give me Advil/Tylenol when I get home with a water to take before going to sleep and I usually feel better the next day. You can also have a heavy breakfast in the morning.

Certain drinks make me feel pretty restless at night. I found out that the more sugar a drink has the more restless I am at night. That's just me. However, what helps me is making sure I am hydrated and constantly drinking water to flush it out later. Sometimes water isn't enough to stay hydrated though lol. So I suggest having gatorade, pedialyte, or even coconut juice on hand. And maybe have some tylenol on hand for the next day just in case. And maybe eat a little something (maybe a snack) before bed. I know you shouldn't, but it helps to fill your stomach a little bit and not go hungry in the middle of the night. No sweets like candy or ice cream though if you tend to have acid every now and then.
Rule of thumb, just stay hydrated throughout the night!

    You are probably dehydrated.

I don't drink very much and when I do its usually 1, maybe 2 drinks, and it not uncommonly will cause me to wake up in the middle of the night when all the alcohol/sugars have burned off (I prefer mixed drinks, so they often have pretty high sugar/alcohol content) and sometimes my tummy isn't great the next day (usually a combo of a drink and a rich dinner on a night out). But at weddings I'll have 5-6 drinks easily over the course of the whole thing, which is usually like 6 hours and because I also drink plenty of water, eat food, and am dancing and active the whole time, I sleep just fine and typically feel fine, maybe a bit tired, the next day.

Drink water, eat food, and pace yourself. On average, people metabolize about 1 drink per hour, so I try to make sure that's about the pace I'm going. The start of a wedding (when the drinks arrive before the apps pop out) is the riskiest time; make sure you don't have more than 1-2 drinks until you've gotten some food in you. I can pretty much have one drink on an empty stomach before things start to go downhill, but once I eat something I feel a lot better. Make sure you finish dinner before you finish your third drink, and drink water in between alcoholic beverages.
