Handwritten or Printed Envelopes

Jenny, on April 22, 2014 at 11:57 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

Are you handwriting or printing addresses on envelopes for your invitations? What about the return address, printed or hand written, on the front corner or the back?

We'll print them on the front envelopes. Neither of us has great handwriting, and there is no way I'm paying for calligraphy.

As for the return addresses - I bought a personalized stamp when we did our Save the Dates, so I'll be using that, probably on the back of the envelope.

My mom and I hand wrote the addresses. We put return address on back flap. My handwriting isn't the best, but it is legible... I thought it would be a nice personal touch.

I will be printing labels for addresses and hopefully getting the envelopes with our return address on there. No one has good hand writing in my house.

I handwrote all of mine, both addresses. I wrote the main address on the front in the center, and the return address on the back flap. Both addresses plus two stamps on the front just made it way too busy. It wasnt as big of a chore as i thought it would be, i just got comfortable in bed and turned on Say Yes to the Dress, and wrote out the addresses while i watched. Took no more than an hour.

I had our return address preprinted on the back. I am used the Avery clear labels and just typed the addresses. My handwriting is not the best so that was not an option for me.

Mine are hand written addresses, with our return address printed on the back of the envelope flap courtesy of VP.

Here's a sample of the calligraphy on my envelopes. (Don't worry, it's a made up name and address.) =)

Honestly, I ran the invites through the printer. I did hand write the STDs and Thank You cards (okay-I stuck a return label on the Thank You cards, but they were really cute)

I got a free stamp, from Vistaprint, when I ordered my invitation, so I am using that for my return addresses. I will be hand writing everything else... I REALLY wish I knew(or knew someone) how to do calligraphy.... but oh well. My ugly hand writing will have to do.

I just used one of the calligraphy fonts and printed mine. I hate my handwriting!

I'm going with a calligrapher and will more than likely find a nice stamp from Etsy for our return address envelopes :-)

I ordered these address label wrap things from an Etsy seller. They matched my invitations.

I bought return labels from VP for my STD's and we will hand write those addresses ourselves. Our return address is printed on the back of the outer envelope and on the front on the response card envelope. I am currently trying to find someone to do calligraphy to address the front of our outer envelopes!

I just printed on clear labels in a fancy-ish font. That's how I roll. It all goes right in the garbage anyway!

My sister has beautiful handwriting, though I'm not sure how excited she would be to address so many envelopes. My kerning skills are better than my penmanship, so I may see how my printer reacts to envelopes.

Our envelopes came pre-printed with our return address on the back. I hand wrote all of the guests addresses on the front of the envelopes. I wasn't sure if people would notice, but I figured it made them more formal and personal. We got a lot of compliments on the invitations.
