Handfasting

Denise, on September 30, 2021 at 10:08 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

Handfasting 1We are doing a Gaelic handfasting during our vows. I finished up out cord tonight.

Is anyone else veering away from traditional ceremonies?

We’re having an pathing stone. We’re going to have guests give an oath or blessing upon the stone on entering the ceremony and then we will take an oath on it during our ceremony.

We are also doing a handfasting... I think it's different but beautiful.

We are doing a handfasting too!! I myself am pagan while both of our families are Christian, and seeing as how we both are of Scottish/Irish ancestry we feel this is a great way to honor our heritage as well as give a subtle nod to my personal belief system.

The fiancé, my dad and his dad are all wearing kilts and our ceremony music is being provided by a family friend who was a professional bagpiper!
My jewelry, on the other hand, will be honoring my mom’s side of the family, which is Italian and Hungarian!

We have a huge jumble of traditions, but we are not doing anything actually traditional. Our kids are walking me down the aisle. Our rings are epoxy resin with hemp flower inside as a nod to my fiancé medical background. All of our flowers will have angel wings in recognition of my son.

We wanted the entire thing to represent us and we are so far outside the norm we can't even see it.
