Hand fasting during ceremony

Kimberly, on July 27, 2020 at 10:38 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
Hi everyone:

We’re having a handfasting ceremony and I’m looking for ideas. Im using Kente cloth, gold cord and strips from my wedding dress (it was really long). We’re Christian so we’re looking for wording/readings that are meaningful but not Pagan (origins of ceremony?). Whatcha got?

We’re doing a simple hand fasting at our wedding too! We still have to braid the ribbons together, but I think it will be beautiful.
I first saw this at a friends wedding. They are both catholic and in my eyes, it’s just another unity ceremony.
Maybe look up some unity ceremony scripts?

We’re looking into doing a handfasting too for our vow renewal! I’m not sure how to go about it.

We’re doing a hand fasting ceremony, I looked online at different scripts and took pieces from several different ones.

For the cords/ribbons I’m braiding 3 ribbons, 1 will be the tartan from the county in Ireland FH family is from, then red and blue which are both of our favorite colors. Then I’m using fishing wire ( he likes to fish) to add beads and charms to the tassel of the ribbons/cords. There will be 3 or 4 tassels of charms, 2 will have charms of that represent things we each like (sports teams, hobbies) the 3rd/4th the charms will have things we love together and some of the places we’ve gone (kids birthstones, hobbies).
