The only invitations my fiancé and agreed on and loved were broach silk portfolio invitations that cost $4 each to mail. Someone suggested handing them out at work and someone else suggested handing them out at the bridal shower next week. Is that tacky? Is there a proper etiquette for hand...

It has always been against etiquette for the bride to hand deliver wedding invitations. Anyone saying it is more traditional is completely wrong. It would only be appropriate and traditional if you hired someone to hand deliver the invitations; the bride's family footmen would personally deliver the invitations to the guests. Doing it yourself is crass but rather practical at $4 a piece.
