Hand Cancelled Invitations - How long did it take for your guests to receive it in the mail?

My invitation designer just sent out my invitations on Tuesday, but I haven't heard anyone that has received it in the mail yet. She sent them out and got them hand-cancelled, which she said takes longer than usual to process. She lives in Sacramento, but majority of my guests live in the Los Angeles area, there are maybe 10-15 who are out of town or out of state, and a few in Canada. Has anyone had any previous experience with this? How long did it take for your guests to receive the invitations if they were hand cancelled? I'm pushing it on the 8 week mark.

What is hand cancelling? I’ve never heard of that.

Instead of putting them through the machine at the post office (the one that marks over the stamps) they do this by hand, it can look neater, but takes time & can be an additional cost depending on your post office. BUT it doesn’t really make much of a difference bc they still go through the machines to get sorted... there’s a way to make it where they don’t go through machines at all but it’s a different special stamp and is meant for mail that is too thick to fit in the sorting machines.

To OP depending on what time she got there they may not have been processed until Wednesday which means for some people out of state and country, they wouldn’t have got them before the weekend. We live in a rural area at the top of CA and if we have something sent up even from SF it can take 3 days rather than the standard 2... if there’s an additional time bc of hand cancelling they may not even get it until Monday or Tuesday. You may have a few people tell you they got it but the only ones who told me were FILs and like 3 friends on Snapchat...
