Halloween!!! Invitation!!

Okay so I never discussed my wedding theme here on wedding wire. The FH and I decided from the start that we wanted a Halloween wedding. Simple and none traditional right, well its more like and actual Halloween Costume wedding. We sent our invitations a bit earlier than we should have had sent them...

Okay so I never discussed my wedding theme here on wedding wire. The FH and I decided from the start that we wanted a Halloween wedding. Simple and none traditional right, well its more like and actual Halloween Costume wedding. We sent our invitations a bit earlier than we should have had sent them due to one of our contracts needing a count 2 weeks before the wedding. In the invitation we informed everyone that its OPTIONAL to have a costume on for the reception only. The thing now is that my mother calls me this morning to let me know that it is a "stupid" idea to have, that because its a wedding everyone should be dress to impress. Our other guest do not have a problem with this. they actually have talk to be about what their costume will be and they are excited. Because of what my mother said to me I feel like I should cancel the costume idea and just have the traditional wedding. What do you guys think of our idea?

    So personally I'd side with your mother only because it's a wedding, not a Halloween party and to me, the idea is kinda childish. However, you already sent the invitations out so it's a little late. Maybe some people on here have ideas for how to make it less tacky.

    You've already sent it out I think it's too late to change it. Also if you say you change it now some people may show up in costume and be embarrassed if they're the only ones who didn't get the memo.

    Maybe hope for the best and people take it as almost a masquerade type thing. Dressed up with a fancy mask? Either way I think it will be fine.
