FH and I are getting married this year on halloween week, we are actually considering letting people dress up in costume. Our venue in on the beach and we are decorating with skeleton and so on.

Omg a Halloween wedding. Purple, black, orange and green. Amazing. I'm getting married the week before Halloween, but it's my favorite holiday

Ok Jacob, damn we get it.

Try not to go too far overboard here. Many people hate dressing up in costume and wouldn't have a good time if you asked people to wear them. You also can't dictate what your guests wear.

Black and red is a fine color scheme, are you asking what the bridal party should wear?

I would dress up in a costume if you asked, but I would not be that excited about it. I would feel like Cady Heron on Mean Girls and not know how extreme to go with the costume... wouldn't know whether to go in a scary costume or not. Then I would wonder how many guests are actually going in costume.

The Halloween wedding is an interesting idea but I would hate to go to a wedding in a costume.

As for bridesmaids I would maybe do black dresses?

First of all, congrats on the engagement jacob. Welcome to WW.

Youre Halloween wedding sounds like it could be a lot of fun if pulled off correctly. When planning remember, as soon as you invite guests the day ceases to be all about you and you have to take their comfort into account. So make sure whatever you do, you provide a fully catered meal (if your reception is during a meal time), you serve alcohol (beer and wine is fine if you are on a budget), and you have a seat for every butt. Also, be mindful of weather and make sure there are indoor options if you are opting for an outdoor ceremony if the weather is generally decent in your area that time of year.

As for your theme. The colors will look great and definitely give off the Halloween vibe. One thing with weddings, you dont want it to look like a college party or kids bday party. But you can definitely have some fun Halloween esque drinks, centerpieces, and decor, and if your wedding party is in the colors you mentioned I think you can pull it off greatly!

Personally, I woildnt ask guests to dress up in costume, not everyone is comfortable doing that. Which is okay.

Pinterest will be a goid reference for ideas, and feel free to post ideas here. You will get good advice, sometimes blunt, but honest, good advice. The WW community is generally all about hosting your guests properly so as lomg as you do that, it will be amazing!

    Happy planning!!

Also I wouldn't go super overboard with the Halloween theme but that's just me. I think something like this would be gorgeous.

UO here, but I think Halloween is one of those themes that you need to do all the way. If I'm going to a wedding on Halloween I better get my fill of Halloween fun. Don't do a watered down Halloween wedding.

I think the red and black sounds great. I'd stick to those colors for the wedding party and decor (although black and purple could look really cool too). If she wears a black and red dress, I'd keep the guys in black and the girls in either red or black.I'd give your guests the option to dress up in costume, but don't make it mandatory.

You could definitely incoporate pumpkins and jack o latterns, probably with electric candles.

Welcome! Love the black and red idea and especially what Lysandra posted. I would not want to wear a costume but you could provide masquerade type masks or something like that for fun. Be subtle with the theme and I think everything could be really pretty and still not look like a kids Halloween party.

I myself am doing a fall theme wedding that I'm calling "An Enchanted Evening" with pumpkins galore!

I did come across this article featuring photos of a Vintage Haunted Wedding style that combines Halloween with that sort of elegance for a wedding:

I plan to incorporate the masks in some fashion too. Maybe you'll find some inspiration from this. Smiley smile

I officiated a Halloween wedding several years ago. I stuck a mask in my bag -- just in case (didn't need it, as it turned out).

The guys were dressed in black with burnt orange shirts. The bride was in a black gown (rather Goth looking). Bridesmaids were in burnt orange dresses. It was subtle enough that if you saw photos you would not necessarily assume it was a Halloween wedding.

My wedding day is Halloween 2021. We're incorporating elements of Halloween without it being a full-blown Halloween theme. It's sort of whimsical, gypsy, fantasy Halloween-ish. My dress is ivory and pale champagne ballgown with subtle gold sparkles and light flower accents around the waist (very fairy-esque, in my opinion). Peacock feathers will be accented everywhere. The bridal party will be in deep jewel tones of purple and green. (Black tux jackets). The reception hall will be in purple, black, and green. I was thinking of using white and orange pumpkins (not crappy dollar store plastic Jack-o-lanterns) to hold beautiful fall flowers and black lace on the centerpieces. I can't wait ♡♡
