Half band and DJ

Has anyone gone to a wedding where there was a band for 3 hours and then a DJ for three hours? I'm doing a Roaring 20s theme and really want the era feel of it. So for cocktail hour and 2 hours after that we want a DJ. Thoughts? Or is it just too much?

I think a 6 hour long reception is too much. Maybe consider 2 and 2 if you insist on both. All I know is that it's a lot of extra cost to have a band and a DJ and you'll need to pay the DJ the full 6 hours because I doubt you want your DJ setting up in the middle of your reception. Plus, you'll need to have a meal for each band member and the DJ. That can get pretty pricey.
