Our first choice stylist has quoted us a price per girl and also is requesting us to pay a day of lost wages on top of that since it will take up her appointment slots from that day. I honestly don't know if this is completely normal and I'm in sticker shock or if this isn't typical. I never thought hair would cost 10-15% of my budget.

My stylist who has been doing my hair for years is more than excited to come out to the venue to do our hair. She is also invited to the wedding - she charged me the normal fee for each persons hair and not a traveling fee, however she will still be paid by the salon for her time as she is working. I did have to put down a deposit to reserve her time, so I just paid in full $225 for 5 gals!

My h/mua traveled to me, with her team and we were charged $50 for hair and $50 for makeup. And travel was free.

They also did amazing work and everyone looked fabulous.

Get quotes from other people. The lost wages fee is ridiculous.

I know stylist charge more for bridal hair ($60 vs $200) but that's too much. My stylist travels a certain distance for free and then charges I believe $1 per mile. I'd keep looking

I'm paying $1050 for my hair makeup, and 5 bridesmaids.

Thanks everyone! For those asking, for 5 girls (not even the bride) it would cost $1640 before tip.

$140 per girl and $800 in "lost wages."

ETA: This is a rural area in the Midwest so usually things are on the cheaper side here, for reference. Also, this is hair only, no makeup.

I've never heard of someone asking for payment for services PLUS lost wages. That doesn't sit well with me. Hire someone else's that's pretty sketchy.

800 in lost wages? And it's 140 for bridesmaid hair only? Absolutely not. That's insane.

For reference, I'm in upstate ny and I'm paying $1200 including tip and travel fees for hair and make up for 8 people total (5 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and me). This also includes a hair and make up trial for me and for my mom.

Now seeing the actual charges - nope nope nope! That is an obscene amount to charge for 5 BMs (and no bride!). The extra $800 is ridiculous!

That sounds weird. I am actually using the woman who cut my hair for over 10 years to do our wedding day hair and she is not only super reasonable in pricing but not charging any travel fees or time missed from being out of her salon. She is charging $60/person regardless of bride or bridesmaid which I love! The bride should not have to pay more in my opinion! So $240 total for hair for the day!

That's ridiculous. My stylist is coming to the venue and is even okay with the fact that it's just me and my MOH. Keep looking.

@HorseGirl I'm also using my stylist I've had for years for myself. Unfortunately she cannot do everyone's hair, she's in remission and just doesn't have the strength to do a bunch of girls.
