Hairstyles with high back, illusion dress

A lot of brides have updos for gowns with a nice back they wanna show off

If you have a back to show off, the only real option is something to keep your hair off it. That could mean an updo, or some kind of braid around the bottom of your hairline to release the hair at one side, if that makes sense. Do you have a professional H/MUA, or who is doing your hair?

I’ve been torn between doing an updo or having my hair partially up/down and off to the side for this reason. (Back of my dress for reference)

My hair is so fine that I’m not sure how long it will stay up but I will have a trail done soon since we are opened back up. My other idea is just cutting my hair above my shoulders and having it curled.

First let me say how much I love your dress. It’s gorgeous! I would probably wear it up to show off that beautiful dress. I was glad I decided to go for the updo because it kept me cooler and I didn’t have to worry about it all day and night.

I wasn’t going to post it because it’s embarrassing...but this is my headband with my original dress. I’m not sure if I will need extensions to fill in my hair. I’m thinking about getting some hair fibers to fill in my bald spot on the top of my head.

I love a just above base of neck chignon. But think they look nicer, less tacked on, when you buy a thick braid, then attach that to the short pulled back ponytail , like a natural braid, then wind the braid into a knot or bun.

You have a perfect fine boned ballerina face, nice smoothed in front, pulled back rather than more top of head up-dos.I note you have a Sept wedding. Around here that is a breezy time, so I like more held together hair. Some put up with curls coming down or loosely put up, end up blowing and looking messy, rather than sleek and elegant to match the dress. Starts romantic and loose , but cannot stay in breeze.

View Quoted Comment Oh yes. thin romantic hairsprayed curls and tendrils on my neck bother me when hot or a little swearty, and without thinking I brush them off my neck and shoulders. I went to a family wedding in 85 degree weather last year. Every photo not posed for, 1 hand is up brushing something back or up. I rarely let a stranger hairdesser near, but I had a sprained wrist, tendrils and loose curls .

I did a side hairstyle! I have a lot of hair and still used extensions. My hair person recommended some from Amazon, they were about $75 and looked and felt great!

View Quoted Comment I have the same situation with my hair. You should try Toppik, if you get the right color it will completely hide any spots. Also certain short hairstyles can make your hair look fuller and thicker

First of all, do not be embarrassed you were going to look beautiful on your big day! This is what I think:


tell whoever you hire to do your hair, and make sure you do a trial first, you want volume at the crown which will help highlight and support your headband. Teasing and back-combing will give you the volume you’re looking for. Good news is a lot of times what you see on Pinterest has a bun filler underneath to wrap the hair around. Most people don’t have enough hair to build up a giant bun by their selves.
