Just Said Yes September 2023

Hair/makeup timeline

Hello! Working on deciding makeup and hair artists - BUT, my venue doesn’t allow us on site until noon and the photographer would like everyone ready to start pictures at 2:30pm… some vendors said they could send 1 MUA and 1 HA and have myself + 4 bridesmaids done in that time… it seems so tight, but I was wondering if any brides have this same issue or advice? Overthinking like crazy. Thank you!!

Ive been in A LOT of weddings, and I’ve never seen hair and makeup done that quickly for a wedding before. For reference, our makeup artist has requested 45 mins for each bridesmaid and 1.5 hours for my makeup. Our hair stylist requested 30 mins - 1 hour for each person, depending on what style they wanted. I would think you would need 2 stylists and 2 makeup artists for that quick of a turnaround.

My venue didn't allow us on site until 2pm. I had my hair done off site at 9am. My makeup artist arrived at 2pm. She did my makeup first and took about 20 minutes. I got into my dress at 2:30pm and did our first look at 3pm.

One thing to consider... do you really want photos of you getting your makeup done? Professional photos? If not... have your makeup done off site somewhere. That way you don't have to be stressed. If I had to do it all over again, I would have done my makeup earlier in the morning too. Just one less thing to deal with. That way when I arrived at 2pm, I could have chilled a bit.

I was just in a wedding this weekend where the bride and 5 bridesmaids including myself all had to get hair, makeup, or both done for an 11 AM wedding. We needed to be done by 9:15 AM. We started at 5:00 AM 😵‍💫 and things still ran late. 2 and half hours is definitely not enough time. I recommend either booking a hotel room like my friend did, or if your residence is nearby, have them come there.

Maybe you can all meet at a salon! Some salons will open early for bridal parties. I can picture it now, everyone relaxing and drinking a mimosa!
