HAIR REGRET?!?! is that a thing? o.0

Kristyღ, on January 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

"What are you doing with your hair?"

"I was thinking half up-half down"

"Yeah I wanted that originally but I read somewhere that a lot of brides regretted doing that."

WHAT? Why? Hair regret? god forbid.

This is similar to what I want to do to mine...

I have never heard of such thing. I could see regretting it if their hair doesn't hold curls well and went flat/they were super super hot and nervous and the hair stuck to them or something...

Lol I had those pictures for inspiration too. I ended up getting a faux fur stole that sits slightly above my shoulders so leaving my hair down at all just sounds like it might turn into a rats nest half way through the reception.

Okay thank the lord because i was so stuck on this.. I have always wanted up/down. hair is way too long for an updo and i always have it down so that wouldn't be exciting for me.

What I hate is wedding hair, I'd rather my hair look like it came from a magazine not prom.

^^Oh my gosh I was looking at the "wedding do" section of the hair catalogs at the stylist and they haven't bought any since... well the popularity of the internet... and they were absolutely hilarious

My hair was like that and I def don't regret it. I don't like my hair up...I think it looks a lot better down so I was very happy with it! Smiley smile

I just meant like a pantene ad, you know? Not the prom do's I see ALL the time. You would think we got out of the 90s, I can do my hair better than what I have seen. I don't even see the point in paying someone to do your hair if it looks like that. If I pay 200-300 just for a do(no weave or nothing!!!!) than it needs to look like I stepped out of a hair commercial or photoshoot. I see youtubers whose hair looks better than some of those horrendous wedding hair dos.

I am planning on doing half up/half down too! I think it's the most flattering for my face shape too.

I think the regret may be when people don't know what looks best on them. I'm having my hair up, but that's because I have a weak chin/jawline and the shadow of hair tends to make me look like I have a double chin even though I'm not overweight.

This girl is my hair inspiration. My hair (second pic) is about 4 or 5 inches longer than it was when this pic was taken, so I think I can pull it off. I also bought a very very similar hair flower from BHLDN that I will put in after the ceremony to give it that "half up" look on one side. The key for me is to tease it at the crown to give it that body, otherwise my hair will look flat.

I have heard some brides who wore their hair down or half down express regret because it lost curl and became flat and lifeless toward the end of the day. There is also the issue of hair becoming sweaty or frizzy due to heat / humidity for a summer wedding and brides saying they would have preferred it off their neck.

    I had half-up/half-down and didn't regret it.

I originally wanted half up/half down too. But then I realized my hair doesn't hold a curl, and I have a nervous habit of playing with my hair when it's down. So I do thinkI would have hair regret if I had it down. I love the down look though, so I'm jealous of brides that can pull it off!

I wore my hair half up/half down and usually my hair doesn't hold a curl but the stylist used a "professional" curling iron (It gets hotter than home irons). Between her curling iron and the hair spray she used, my curls stayed all night long (as well as the next morning when we flew out for our honeymoon). I don't regret it at all. Here's are a few pictures of the barrel curls in my hair.

I've been to a few weddings where the bride's hair gets a little messy looking after dancing and sweating. Pictures will still be taken towards the end of the reception, my daughter is having a half up do for the wedding, then having it all pinned up for the reception.

Personally I don't like my hair half up half down because the shape of my face and my jawline. Have you worn it half up/down curled for pictures before? It adds a lot of volume to the bottom of your jaw.

Half up/down I've seen has looked very messy (falls out during the reception) or very strict (slicked back and "perfect" curls which look artificial) so maybe one of these two things happen?

My hair stylist suggested we do a trial run on my last dress fitting day so I could get an image of what it would look like. I have been torn between the side curly ponytail and the low curly bun to the side. I didn't even know which one to try. So I asked my absolute best friend in the world for an opinion. He then told me he liked the bun and I would be happier with my hair more contained during the day and into the reception. Good thing I am marrying him.
