Hair & makeup

This might be a silly question but it's my first time doing this type of thing/pampering myself.

So I'm going to hire a person to do my hair & make up for my engagement session, my question is how much of a tip should I give the stylist? It's only 1 person business.

Tips are generally 10%. But you only give a tip if they are stellar, above and beyond the call of duty.

How much is she charging you? It can range anywhere from 15-25%.

Is this person also doing your wedding hair/makeup? i.e., are you using this as a complimentary trial or anything?

If you're paying for these services outright, I would do the standard 15-20%.

If this is a trial included in your hair/makeup package, that's a little trickier.

When I got my engagement photos done, I scheduled my makeup trial for that day. I gave my MUA a $40 tip -- definitely more than necessary, but I was appreciative of her working with my schedule/location. (I tipped her 20% on the overall bridal package as well.)

For my engagement hair, I just got that done at a salon, and tipped them 20%.

I tip 20% usually, and always rounds it up.

I would probably only do a ten percent tip.

If she do a good job then yes I would like to hire her for my wedding day. That makes sense! I just wasn't sure since she owns her business and she's the only "worker".

Only $170 so I'm thinking of tipping her 20% if she does a good job
