Hair & Makeup Timeline

Caitlin, on September 10, 2015 at 3:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So this is something that I didn't think I had to think of for quite some time, but all of the good makeup artists are booking up on my date already. The makeup artist that I planned on using only has openings at 1pm (if I go to her studio, which is not even in the city I'm getting married in) or she could come out to the venue at 2pm. The ceremony is at 4:30, and I am planning on doing a first look before. Is 2pm too late to get makeup done for me and my girls for my 4:30 ceremony? Realistically, what time should I be getting hair and makeup done?

How many bridesmaids do you have?

ETA: Also, this is definitely a question you should ask HER. She'd be the best one to give you an accurate answer.

I will have a total of 3-4. I haven't asked everyone yet, lol.

My ceremony is at 4:30 and she told me we should start at 9am...I'm going to try to get her to at least do 9:30. We have a total (including me) of 4 people getting both hair and makeup. She said it's about 30 minutes per person per service. But yes, definitely ask her for the best estimate =)

Our ceremony starts at 4:30, first look is at 3:00. our hair and make up starts 12 noon. My stylist and MUA have said that's plenty of time. I would check with yours!

ETA: i have a stylist for each BM, and I'm the only one doing makeup. I wasn't starting makeup or hair early because then by the evening, it's been all day and makeup doesn't last that long.

We are doing a first look at 4:30/5 and my hair and makeup lady is starting at 2:30. This is with no bridal party so I would say that is cutting it a little too close.

Thanks, ladies! The makeup artist knows the ceremony is at 4:30pm, but I'm thinking that is not enough time at all.

Yes, that is definitely cutting it too close. I have a 4:30 ceremony, 3 bridesmaids, and my mom and FH's mom are also getting hair & makeup done. The hairstylist & MUA are arriving at the hotel where we're getting ready at 9:45 AM, and they plan to be done be around 2 to give everyone time to get dressed before leaving for the ceremony. We're not doing a first look either.

My ceremony is at 6. Photos start at 3 and first look is around 4 (i think!). I have 3 stylists doing hair and MU for me, 8 bm's, and 2 moms. Basically, they have us booked from 9-2:30.

So yes.....check with the MUA first. It sounds too close to me.

I would say yes. I was shocked at how early my MUA wanted to be at our hotel. We are starting at 7am for a 12:30 first look. You don't want to feel rushed during the beauty part.
