Hair & Makeup order

Mcafee2018, on December 12, 2017 at 6:29 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4

What is the order in which you get dressed the day of your wedding?

I'm completely clueless.

Would love some advice from past brides or if anyone knows..

Do you put the dress on then have your hair and make up put on or do you have your hair and makeup put on THEN put on the dress?

If you've had your wedding, how did the day of go as far as getting dressed and ready? I'm most nervous about that right now.

Hair, then makeup, then dress. You don't want hair products or makeup getting on your dress. Just make sure you wear no bra/strapless bra and a button up shirt when getting ready. So no marks on your back and shoulders from the straps and so you don't have to worry about messing up your hair and makeup when changing.

I put the dress on LAST! You don't want any makeup getting on that bad boy. The only thing we added last last was a little hair thing I had and my veil.

We had the people who were getting their makeup done come at 8:45, H/MUA came at 9:00, Assistant curled hair while main MUA did makeup, then they swapped and MUA would finish hair (if someone wanted it more than curled), then we put on my dress when my photographers showed up at 12:30. MUA can add finishing touches before you get dressed (sometimes staged photos of them putting blush on you for example; when my photogs showed up I was still getting makeup finished so they got real shots; doesn't matter either way). Then you get some great pics of you getting your dress on! It really just depends on when you're getting your MU/H done and when your photographer is arriving and whether or not you want getting ready/in your dress photos.

My hair stylist did my hair first, then MUA did my make-up, my hair stylist came back and did a few finishing touches. I will say I am glad I added a 30 minute buffer my stylist needed more time than she estimated. So with that extra time we were on time. I didn't put my dress on until I got to the church.

Even if you get ready at a salon I still would put your dress on last, you don't want anything to get on it or have it get wrinkled from sitting down.

You'll put your dress on last. We had hair first, then makeup - but I think you can do those in whichever order (ask your hair and makeup artists, they'll be able to tell you).

For 6 people, we did hair at 9 and 10 (at the salon), then went to the venue, and did makeup from approximately 11 - 3. The wedding was at 6 - everything went really smoothly and we started promptly on time
