Hair Extensions?

Melinda, on October 7, 2021 at 12:30 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

My hair has been above shoulder length my entire life. I have Hashimotos disease and this causes it to be very fine. I have been trying to grow my hair out since January of 2021 and its only grown about two inches. I also used to have an undercut that I have been trying to grow out since then so the bottom layer of my hair is much shorter than the top.
I really want an updo for my wedding but honestly don't know that I would have enough hair to hold one. Obviously this is something to ask my hairstylist. I am going for a hair trial in about a month and a half and just started doing research. That being said, does anyone have experience with clip in or tape in extensions? I've googled information and just wanted opinions.

We are leaving for Punta Cana two days after so I wanted something that I could either remove before then easily or that would last our ten day honeymoon on the beach.
Heres pictures of what I am going for:

I recommend you talk to your stylist about extensions now so you have time to buy them before the trial. Make sure you let her know it is for an updo because you may be able to buy a smaller/cheaper set than someone who is wearing their hair down.
As to using them, I have longer hair than yours, but also very fine, and chose a similar style updo. My stylist is using 2-3 clip in extensions (3-6 wefts each) to give the bun part of the updo sufficient volume. The loose pieces/volume in the front will all be my natural hair. For even shorter hair, my stylist brings those mesh bun scrunchy things to use underneath your hair to add volume without or with fewer extensions.

As someone else said, talk to your stylist! I'm getting my extensions beaded in, which is a little more "permanent" because I wanted them to last for a bit. My stylist told me that tape-ins wouldn't be an option for me because I wanted fuller hair as well as longer, and tape-ins only really add length. I bought 2 wefts of hair for myself because the thinner your hair, the less you need. I've used clip-ins before as well, they are fairly easy to put in and take out, so definitely a great option for removal shortly after.

I’ve got clip in extensions I used for both the rehearsal dinner and the day of the wedding, highly recommend. They’re so easy to take out at the end of the day! Hair Extensions? 4

I also have Hashimoto’s and thin hair. I was nervous about clip ins because I was afraid the clips would show through my thin hair at the scalp. I decided to take a chance and after talking to my stylist purchased high quality remy hair extensions from Luxy to use at my trial. I would definitely recommend talking to your stylist and perhaps having them put in for your trial so you can see if you like them. Clip ins are a great option if you aren’t looking for a lot of maintenance and costly upkeep and literally only want the length and thickness for your wedding day.
