Hair Extensions

Erin, on July 2, 2019 at 9:25 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

Hey guys! So I was thinking about getting clip in hair extensions for the big day, not so much for the length, but to thicken my hair for pictures. How did you guys find/match your color? Also, what brands did you guys use?

I went to Sally's beauty supply and bought the Euronext (pretty sure that's the correct spelling) brand clip in extensions. They have like 7 or 8 different colors to pick from. I ended up matching pretty well to a color and don't need to do anything with them. But I suggest you buy the real hair ones so that way you can straighten and curl them without damaging them. If they don't have a color that you match up to you can have them colored.

I bought Milk & Blush, they are amazing. They are $260 for their longest/thickest ones. I sent pictures in of my hair and they helped me pick the right color.

My HAMU artist told us to go to Sally’s and get the real hair clip ins. I may to it for a little more length ☺️ I guess I should add this to my list 🤣. I imagine we need them for our trails, right? Will the curl mess it up? Hmmmm

I bought Bellami clip in extensions. My hair stylist helped me pick which color and length to buy. When they arrived I thought they might be a bit too light, but they blended into my hair great. Your stylist can dye them to match your hair if needed. For your hair trial you’ll want to take any extensions, headband, clips, veil, etc that you’ll be wearing on your wedding day so that you can see the whole look. I’m glad I bought extensions for my style. I had a side braid into curls kind of style, and the extensions added some volume and length.

Are you having your hair down?
Some hair stylist are able to tease and make some volume for your hair even when the hair is down so it might not be necessary as much. Now if you plan an updo then you won’t need it as they have the right tools for volume.

I think I'm doing half up half down with a braid thrown in there! I might just have the trial without extensions and see what she can do

That’s a good idea! She can even recommend some brands for you. If you plan on doing curls and braids then stay away from synthetic hair. Go for real hair. If your color is complex to match and you dye your hair anyways just get a light color and dye it with your hair so color matches. Light is always easy to go darker. Just avoid reds, I’ll do blonde. If you don’t dye your hair just find the color closest to you but again go lighter when in doubt. It would make it look like you have highlights which never looks bad.
    Good luck!

I am also using clip ins and I can tell you it makes a HUGE difference! I had my hair trial and I absolutely loved how my hair looked. I did a half up and half down style and it created so much fullness. I originally went to Sally's but they were super expensive so instead I tried a local beauty supply store and they were much cheaper and had much more of a selection. The people working there were super helpful in helping me find the color to match because I have highlights so I was worried about that. The best thing to do is make sure to get REAL human hair so it looks more natural and is easier to style. The packaging is normally clear so you can just hold up the packaging to your hair to see if the color matches. Good luck!
