Hair extension questions

R, on January 29, 2015 at 2:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

So I'm thinking about doing hair extensions for the big day and have never worn them before. I have long hair, but it is very fine and flat and so I'm thinking extensions will add a lot of volume.

Is this something the person doing my hair the day of will put in that day or does it have to be done beforehand? Will she have some or do I have to buy myself from elsewhere? Anyone else do extensions and have good or bad experiences?

I wear tape in extensions. I like them to be a bit more permanent and it's taken a lot of trial and error to figure out adhesive remover so I don't destroy my natural hair, but I have super crazy thin hair too. I would ask my hair stylist prior to doing a trial. There are also a lot of updo's that still look great with thin hair.

I think dependin on if they are taped/sew in vs clip in. i think clipin the day of and the others ae before hand. I have eard good things about the clip ins and tape ins, the sew ins can damge hair from what ive heard

I my be doing clip ins for volume as well. and it depends on where you get them and your stylist!

Im.still newt.o the whole extensions thing, (bought a one pc clip in)& needed some advice on how to use it to look natual. I am pretty sure your hair stylist can put them in, i dont know anything at ALL about tapr in, but im allergic to tape, so thats a no go. They should know how to best use clip in, if not youtibe how to blend.

I did clip in extensions for my wedding and I loved them!! I bought a 3 pack and had my hair girl practice with them at my trial so we could see what the up-do would look like and if we needed all 3 pieces. It was worth the time and money. I loved my hair on my wedding day!! At the end of the night, they were super easy to take out as well. After the 768 bobby pins came out first Smiley smile

You need to buy extensions. I would go to sallys. They have a color wheel there of all their colors. get human hair. its about $80-$120 depending on the length you want. Bring a friend to help you choose the correct color by putting them up to your hair. Your hairdresser can easily clip these in for you, just bring them to him/her.

    *I've been wearing a weave since 2008

Have you looked into the Halo Hair? I tried it on at a wedding show and it looked great. It is somewhat spendy, but you won't ruin your hair with real extensions. The halo hair comes as fake hair or real hair and you can use it as much as you would like. I have clip on hair extensions and sometimes the clip shows if not done right and after a few hours the clips begin to give me a headache. Good luck!

I spoke to my hair stylist about this and she recommended them. For a decent set it was going to be around $300 for clip ins, more if we did a weave. I ended up deciding that my fiancé loves me with my thin limpy hair already so why spend $300 when we can use that on honeymoon fun.

I would check with your hair stylist. I was specifically told I must provide my own. I'm still on the fence if I'm going to do them or not. My hair is pretty thin and it'd be nice to have the added volume, but they charge $45 just to put them in. But I've never used them before either, so maybe I just don't know how much work they can be.

I've also been looking into this. It depends on how you want them done. If you want just clip ins for the day you can go to Sally's and your hairdresser can put them in when she does your hair that day. If you want them more permanent like infused or sewn it, it would have to be done in advance. I was looking into infused extensions, but my hair is already decently long and thick so I don't know if the money would be worth it just for a longer do that day.

I would find a hair salon that you can buy the extensions from and get it put in, otherwise the internet is a great place to find them. Try to see if you can find European hair, it is the most expensive but it will most likely match yours.

I know that 300 with hair and a weave sounds like a lot but it really isn't; I pay about 500-800 for just decent hair. To get a good weave it is at least 150. Oh and good hair should last you a year to two years, they always say less but that is to get you to keep buying it, so it is definitely worth it.

I have clip ins that I put in when I go out but i have not tried the other options. My friends have tried a bunch of different ones though. The one thing that I have been told is to make sure you get real human hair. If you are going to order from online you have to make sure that its says that it is human hair or you are going to end up with crap and having it be a waste of money. I would definitely suggest talking to who ever is doing your hair for the wedding because some hair dressers don't even know how to do extensions. For my clip ins I spent about 200 but you can take them in and out as you please and you can wear them whenever you want to its not just a one time thing.

I have thin/fine hair too and I asked my hair stylist about extensions. She said clip-in's would be the best for my hair type. She got the extensions and the color matched my hair perfectly so it was only $130 for a whole head of 16" extensions. Definitely worth it! Talk to your stylist and see what she recommends!

My MUA who is also doing my hair is putting them in (she did it at my trial and it looked great; I've been trying to grow out my hair and it's now about an inch below my shoulders but didn't quite make it to the length I wanted yet). She put in a pair of her own at the trial, which I had to give back, but she said the day of the wedding she'll use a new pair and I will keep those and she will charge me an extra $80 as I'm basically buying them from her (which I'm fine with).

I ended up buying Bellami hair extensions and was skeptical at first. I bought the 160 gram 20" inches set and was very pleased. I took them to my hair dresser and she blended them in perfectly- she was shocked at how soft they are. They hold curl well, I haven't washed them yet.

The first day I wore them 3 people stopped me while I was out and about and told me I have great hair (woo!) I only use three of the tracks because I mostly wanted some volume, not so much length. I'll be wearing my hair half up or pinned for my wedding so I wanted full, luscious locks!

If you are worried about color matching e-mail them a photo of your hair and they will help match you. I had a great experience with them! Great quality.
