Hair Clip vs Comb for half down hair do ???

I have my hair and make up trial next week. I've been debating on clip vs comb. My hair is pretty long and thick and I'm planning on having the majority of it down. What would be better to pin hair to the side of my head: clip or comb? My stylist said either would work but I'd like to hear from my fellow brides.

Top left is an alligator clip. Bottom left is a comb. And the picture on the right is the hair style I'm looking to achieve.

It's an outdoor wedding. I absolutely hate my hair up. My hair can hold a curl. My dress is very light weight. I just don't know if a clip or comb is better to use.

In my personal experience, in an updo a comb holds better, and if your hair is down or mostly down a clip is more secure. In your mostly down hair inspo pic I don't see what a comb would have to cling onto and I would worry it would slide around, though I'll admit that opinion is certainly colored by the fact I have very very fine hair, and in my case an alligator clip would absolutely work better for me if I tried to recreate that style. Can you bring both (even if they aren't bridal ones) to your hair trial to test them out and see which is better for you?
