Hair and Makeup— thoughts?

I'm a huge LOTR fan and don't think it looks like Legolas. You're stunning! But the hair doesn't look anything like the inspirational photos and doesn't accentuate your beauty. It looks kind of amateur-ish, not bridal. For you to be told that the finished product will look better is a HUGE red flag to me. Your stylist should've been doing your hair and makeup like you were about to walk down the aisle. That's the entire point of a trial! I'd hire someone else for hair and makeup.

The Legolas comment made me LOL. That being said, do not go with this HMU artist. You are beautiful and she did a poor job of making your vision come to life and accentuating your features. Be glad you did a trial and move on!

Thanks yall! I may be stuck with this artist as my wedding is in 2 months and everyone else I’ve reached out to (whose work I liked) is booked up. I may have a lead on another option, but is there anything specific that stands out that I should tell this artist if they end up being my only option ?

Is your hair all one length or layered? I think I showed the same pic of the hairstyle that is half-up half-down to my hairdresser during my trial, and she explained to me that I wouldn’t have the same fullness and volume in the curls because my hair is all one length. I hadn’t thought of that, but once she told me that it made a lot of sense!

Have you checked Thumbtack and Instagram or Yelp? If it helps any, write down what you like and what you don’t. That way you aren’t trying to think how to say something on the spot. Follow your gut because it will never steer you wrong.

You could also get your makeup done at a beauty store like Sephora or ulta! Some of them are TRULY amazing and you might be able to find someone there! My sister used to work at Sephora and her talents are amazingggg and her coworker will be doing my makeup because she’s an actual certified artist! Just an option to think about!

View Quoted Comment I don’t have Instagram and I’m not really willing to use it at this point (I know, I’m hobbling myself by doing this!) but I did check on thumbtack. I sent out a mass request but the only person who said they were available was someone whose work I don’t really like from photos.

Also if you are on Facebook (many are not which is understandable) there are local wedding groups that suggest vendors in your area.
