I never thought finding someone for my bridal hair and makeup would be so difficult but I am struggling! I’m a Chicago bride and I can’t seem to find anyone who can do both my hair and makeup for less than $700!! So far I’ve been looking at teams who provide stylists, but I’m wondering if I should...
I never thought finding someone for my bridal hair and makeup would be so difficult but I am struggling! I’m a Chicago bride and I can’t seem to find anyone who can do both my hair and makeup for less than $700!! So far I’ve been looking at teams who provide stylists, but I’m wondering if I should be looking at freelance hair and makeup artists instead. I’m worried the freelance people might be even pricier. Does anyone know which route might be the wiser financial choice? Any tips for finding the best option would be so so appreciated!

Hi Shannon. I had a great makeup artist in Chicago that specializes in bridal makeup. For my own wedding, I went with someone local in NY. I will message you.

That seems really expensive to me, but I imagine Chicago costs would be on the higher side.

I am in NH and makeup is about $65-$85 and hair styling about the same, maybe slightly more, not including tip. Price is the same for brides or other occasions. Obviously a wash and cut, color, extensions, lashes, etc can increase the cost. This is at the salon. If you want the HMUA to travel to you there is usually a minimum cost and additional travel fees. So a bride can hair their look completed for under $200 at the salon, maybe closer to $300-$400 with travel and tip.

$700 for one person just seems really excessive unless you are having your hair dyed or extensions added and that includes considerable travel.
