Hair and makeup schedule?

Mrs. in PDX, on May 15, 2016 at 2:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

How long before your ceremony starts will your hair and makeup be done?

The way it's looking, mine will be done at noon, and my wedding starts at 4. Is that pretty standard? The lady I am working with has one bridesmaid starting at 8:30am for a 4:00pm wedding. Is that pretty standard? I guess it just seems like a loooong time to stay all done up, Especially for the bridesmaid beginning at 8:30am but for all I know this could be completely normal.

I called the photographer and asked her how long the pictures I wanted would take, explained I wanted them before the ceremony, then called the hair stylist/MUA and told her how many and when pictures start and she told me when she needed to start. Idk if that helps

We are also having a 4pm ceremony. We need to be done by 12:30 to start photos, so first BM starts at 7:30am.

Our ceremony is at 4:30 and we plan on being at the venue at 2. So hair/ makeup needed to be done by 1:30 so they're starting at 9:30 for 5 hair & 4 makeup.

If you're hair/makeup is off location then yes that's pretty normal. For my sisters' wedding we had to be at the salon at 9:30/10 for a 4pm wedding --close by.

For my wedding my MUA/stylist came to the venue so we started @ 11. She was done at 2pm..4pm ceremony as well.

Another thing to account for is how many people are getting their hair/makeup done to how many artists there are. If you only only have 1 MUA to a ton of girls then yes they need to start extra early. It's usually 3 hours for bride and 2 hours for everyone else.

Depends on how many BM you have getting hair/makeup done and where you are headed afterward. I have 2 BM...we'll all be getting our hair done and I will also be getting makeup done. We're starting at 12pm for a 6pm ceremony. FH and I are also doing first look shots at our venue at 4:15 so we need the extra time.

ETA: My MOH's start time was 7am for a 2pm ceremony but she had 9 BM getting their hair done...

We are starting makeup at 7:30 and hair at 8 to be done by 1. We're doing photos before the ceremony (5 pm). I'm getting my hair done from 10:15-11:15 am and my makeup will be 11:15 to 12:15. My hair is an updo and it holds curl/styles very well. As for makeup, my trial lasted 12 hours easily- and my MUA is staying to touch me up at 3:30 after my first look!

    ETA: I have 6 BMs

Our wedding was at 1:00pm and my stylist arrived at 7:00am. She did hair for five of us and makeup for one. We had 30 minutes of travel time between where we got ready and the church.

I'm starting at 11:30- my ceremony is at 5.

Really what you want to do is say- what time is my ceremony- 4 PM. Cool- I need to be AWAY and hidden by 3:30 PM.

First look- well photographer- how long? and hr? okay say 2 PM. Do you have to travel between prep/pictures/ceremony? add that in there and just work backwards...

    4 PM- Ceremony

3:30- PM- set and ready while guests arrive

    3:00 PM- pictures done

2:00 PM- get started with pictures

    1:40 be dressed NLT

1:30 Hair and Make up DONE

12:00 PM- set hair and make up.

So- I would get started around 11:30 or 11 depending on how long you have and how many pictures you have/want to take. consult with photographer on pictures in advance and how long that will take- and then figure out when the photographer needs you- then give yourself a 45 minute buffer for getting dressed- and say- okay I need to be done by XXXXX time- and tell your hair and make up peoples- i need to be done by X time. - let them tell you officially when to start.

I thought about this too. I have really oily skin and want to look as fresh as possible for pictures and ceremony. I guess it has to be early!

Part of it has to do with what your stylist has booked for the rest of the day.she could have had appointments made before she knew she was doing your hair for the wedding. But yes typically when I do a bridal party they come around 9 and are out by 12. That's with two stylist doing the hair and I doing makeup on anyone who wants it. For the girls who want to do their own makeup I offer them an area in the salon to apply it themselves. The only time a wedding party gets to book my whole Saturday is if I'm traveling away from the salon. Also I like to have my wedding girls come in in the morning so that they are the only ones in there. I tell all the BM and Bride ti come at the same time. Provide them with mimosas and breakfast and then do my normal clients once they leave. Smiley smile

I will have two girls coming to my suite to do our hair and anyone who wants makeup done. I think they will be starting at 8:30am as we will be departing around noon for the first look and photos which will take place from 1-3. Ceremony will start at 3:30pm. I think it's pretty normal to start early.
