hair and makeup prices? and paying for bridesmaids?

Jennifer, on October 17, 2017 at 5:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I'm finding my quotes for hair and makeup for me and bridal party are all over the place. What did you pay? What did it include? And is it customary to pay for bridesmaids? Or what is reasonable to expect them to cover themselves?

I am paying $350 for my hair and makeup, this includes a free trial and extensions. I'm not requiring my girls to get their hair and makeup done but the price for them is $130 for both, hair and makeup.

Mine is about $600 for hair and makeup trial and day-of, on-location hair and makeup. The bridesmaids will get their hair done (their choice) on location for $125 each, and I am paying for half of their cost. They declined to get their makeup done professionally.

As others have said, it is not customary to pay for the bridesmaids' hair and makeup unless you are requiring them to have it professionally done.

Differences in pricing depend on locale (popular wedding city or lots of high-end salons = more expensive), whether the work is being done in the salon or at the venue/hotel (their travel costs are included in the price), what level of service (airbrush vs traditional makeup, updo vs simple hairstyle, etc.), and the reputation of the stylist/artist and salon. My hair and makeup services are very expensive (IMO), but between recommendations from my wedding planner and a friend of mine who is from Charleston, there were no other options of equal quality for a materially lower cost.

I'm paying $360 for hair and makeup day of and trial for just me. I am not paying for BM because I am not requiring it, but a lot of them have opted to use the services

Mine is $85 an up-do, and $65 for make up. I'm paying for my bridal party. I have no hair or make up requirements for my wedding, but I wanted to do this for them.

Mine is $115 for hair and makeup (but I suspect this is in part because its the hair stylist I've gone to for cut and color for three years and she cut me a deal). If you require hair and makeup you have to pay. Otherwise it's up to you. I decided I wanted my girls to have a little pampering so I offered to cover hair.

I found out how much it was for hair and makeup for my BMs, notified them it would be $85 for each or $150 for both, and asked if anybody would like the services. I am not paying, and they had no obligation to do either. Some chose to get both, some chose hair only, and some chose neither. My hair and makeup is $250 which includes airbrush and lashes.

My BM hair and make up is 100. 65 for make up, 35 for hair. I am not paying. I offered them to use the same people doing mine and they all decided to do it. I am paying for their nails the day before, though. Not because I am making them, but because it will be nice to have some girl time before the decorating starts!

Where are you located? I was in Orange County. I paid $150 for my trial, $350 for hair and airbrush bridal makeup the day of, plus tip. I didn’t require it for my girls. They were free to do it or not. They all opted to and they each paid $175 to pick a hairstyle and airbrush makeup. The artists were local so we didn’t have travel or booking fees or anything like that.

Originally I paid 125 for a trial and then it would have been 85 for hair and 70 for my makeup day of and 65 for everyone else, but I hated the expensive place I tried, so now I'm using a girl that just graduated from hair school and was top of her class and she did a really good job on my trial and it was 85 for both on my trial. So I think I'm paying 60 for my hair day of and 50 for my makeup and then 60 for each of my girls hair. I think 500$ is a fair amount to budget for day of makeup and trials for yourself, if you're including your girls hair I would budget an extra 60-70$ per person just be safe. I think I'm going to pay for my girls hair to get done and not their makeup, but it's totally up to you and how chill you are or how skilled your BMs are at doing it themselves.

I will be paying $125 for my trial and $250 for day of. The day of includes hair, airbrush makeup, and fake eyelashes. For anyone else on the day of it's $90 for hair, $90 for standard makeup, $15 extra for eyelashes. I am paying for hair, and if the girls want it's on them for makeup. I'm not requiring it or anything like that, so if they want it makeup & tip is on them.

I'm paying about $1500 for my hair and makeup (airbrush), plus 3 bridesmaids, my mother, my future mother-in-law and future sister in law to be done at our house. I didn't require my BMs have their hair or make-up done, just asked if they wanted to do so, my treat, and all but one did (she just wanted hair, not make-up). It is expensive, and quite frankly I was shocked that no budget calculator included this accurately (to pay for bridesmaids and others), but I feel like it is the least you can do for making them travel, buy a dress, and stand in a ceremony with you. Plus it seemed kinda snobbish of me to be getting my hair and makeup done in front of my BMs and then they don't get the same opportunity to do get theirs done without having to pay a ton of money on top of what they spend on a dress (who wants to spend an extra $100 on top of a $200 dress?). They are supposed to be honored, not paying a ton to be there. I didn't give them elaborate asking gifts, and their thank you gift will be pretty simple as well though. The sister and mother in law then got included because it seemed rude not to ask them either as future family. Just make sure you budget for it if you can do it. For us, it was more important to treat my wedding party and family well than to have a videographer, so that's where I got the money.

I'm paying $450 for just myself - that includes the trial, travel (70 miles from the studio to where I'm getting married) and hair and makeup the day of. My two bridesmaids are paying for themselves, one is getting hair and makeup done ($125) and the other is hair only ($75).

I'm paying 125 for makeup and 75 for hair for myself. I asked if everyone wanted theirs done and they said yes. Although I'm not requiring it I am paying for it as most of the party is not financially secure. Total cost for make up for 5 and hair for 4 plus one child's hair do came to $910 with travel.

I'm giving them the option for both.

They all chose to get their hair done ($75), but not all chose to get makeup done ($120)

For me, hair is the same $75 but makeup is $150

And I decided to pay for their hair

For makeup I can't find anything cheaper than $50 for bridesmaids and I am making it optional for them. But the price ranges from $50-$90.

For hair, I am paying $45 for each of them. They will all have their own wigs/ weave and it's $45 for styling

For myself makeup is cheapest at $65 and hair for $120
