Hair Accessories That can be Worn with a Veil

Megan, on February 8, 2014 at 1:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

I decided straight up that I definitely wanted a veil since it really does scream "bride." I'm having a fairly traditional wedding with some modern elements so a veil just seemed right. My veil is a single tier waltz length with multiple folds in it so it's a fluffy/plush looking veil kind of like a waterfall veil but without the high top. I'm wearing it over top of my up do and really want some hair pins or clips to wear in my up do but I'm not sure if you're going to be able to see them or if it'll be over kill. I didn't have anything real fancy for prom so now I want the small flower pins all over for my wedding, but I don't know how much sparkle I want since my dress isn't very embellished and I don't want my hair to look like a disco ball and out shine my dress. Any suggestions? Please comment with photos of what you or a friend wore with your veil so I can get a visual idea of what types of hair accessories work with a longer veil and how they look.

    Megan,

Are you looking for hair pieces like this?

Veil for ceremony then take it off and put hair clips in

I knew I was definitely going to wear a veil, but was torn between wearing a sparkly headband and a flower hairpiece. I brought both with me to the hairdressers that morning and she suggested incorporating them both ... so we did. The hairpiece was under the veil so it was not as prominent for the ceremony but was still visible. During the reception, I simply removed the veil and had fun with the headband and hairpiece remaining. I loved the look with my sparkly dress

Not sure what kind of hair piece(s) I want. I've been looking at small hair pins to push into my elaborate up do. I want to accent a little bit without over doing it and since we're doing a blending of the traditional and modern, I'm thinking I should get something with a modernized vintage feel.

MinD - I like your headband. A headband I think could work out well with my hair style. Still, I kind of want hair pins as I wanted some for prom but didn't have any.

I'm wearing a tiara with my cathedral-length veil. I say, why not! I was against it at first but when my mom pulled out the tiara and had me try it on with a longer veil (I originally had a finger-length one), that's when it really hit me that I'm a bride! It brought everything together. It's a totally different look with a tiara but I'm really happy I have one (Plus I can leave the tiara in and take the veil off after the ceremony)

I originally wanted a veil Cynthia, but it's no longer in the budget, at least not the one I had my eyes set on, as I decided I wanted a pair of lace bridal gloves instead for our Modern Victorian theme.

I'm wearing a veil that will be pinned at the back, high up. My hair will be half up/half down, with the comb at the top. I'm thinking a headband will look best. It'll add some sparkle, without taking away from the classic look.

I know you can find twist-in hair pins, like little pearls or rhinestones! Those might add just enough pizazz.

MrsNewvine, thank you. I'm thinking twist in pins. Something small as to not overtake my traditional Victorian hairstyle that I will be donning. A head band does sound great though too.
